There's just something about summer that makes me crave limeades like no other part of the year. It's a throw-back to a simpler time when you could actually sit outside at Sonic and sip said limeade slowly. Where you didn't have to drive off and suck it down before the next thing in your day, and where you could eat all of the Sonic ice in the cup afterwards. Where I could sit on top of the massive freezers after work and chat with my friends into the early morning hours, that trusty ... continue reading...
Waldorf Astoria Cake
Old recipes are where it's at. You know, people keep them around for a reason, right? It's because they either sounded good at the time, they are good, or they're time-tested and proven. Back in October 2010 when we celebrated the life of my Papa in Oklahoma I had the chance to go through a ton of old recipes from my great-grandparents' house. Though I couldn't take them with me, we did take photos of them all and slowly but surely are working our way through the deliciousness. The recipe ... continue reading...
Baby Q
After a crazy birth story and a miraculous delivery, Robbie and Stefanie's precious baby boy was born. He is positively the most beautiful and snuggly baby boy in the world! Good thing he has his self-appointed Aunt Heather and Uncle Nate to love him! ... continue reading...
Chocolate Chip Cookies for Two
I'm going to go ahead and call myself a hypocrite here. I know there was a time when I said that a bunch of smaller cookies were better than one or two larger cookies. A couple of you politely disagreed and we moved on with our lives. Until now. Now I'm going to say you're right, I was wrong. I can handle it when I say things that prove to be untrue; ain't no thang. And apparently my grammar ain't no thang either. So what? I can admit when that's wrong too. The ... continue reading...
The Charm Cake
We were in Dallas this past weekend shooting the wedding of Brandon & Elizabeth, and I got to learn about a new tradition called a charm cake. Basically it's a bundt cake that has small charms attached to ribbon, all representing something in a marriage or in life, hidden in the middle. On the wedding day the bride and the women in her life all pull the charms out at the same time and tie the charms around their wrist. You wear it all day for the wedding and it's supposed to come ... continue reading...
Homemade Naan
I know I've waxed poetic in the past about how making bread is SO FUN and I just love doing it. That being said it also scares the bejeezus out of me. I mean, most homemade breads need time to let the dough grow (scary!) and then you have to knead it and then you have to bake it and then I realize I live at high altitude and therefore all bread is going to be slightly different than the recipe. It's exhausting, and I tend to have minor freak-outs whenever I decide that it's time to bust ... continue reading...

Lemon and Roasted Garlic Compound Butter
Let's talk about butter. I remember there was a time back in high school where if you asked me if I liked real butter you'd likely get a glaring look and an emphatic, "NO." I'd like to apologize here and now for my odd behavior. My only excuse is that I was a teenager and didn't know any better. That does count as an excuse, right? I don't remember what happened the day that everything changed and I decided that I love the stuff. It seems to have been one of those magical ... continue reading...
The Baby Heads
After a weekend shooting a wedding and spending time in Dallas it's time to get back to these baby puppies! ... continue reading...
Strawberry Yogurt Cake
I bought a new pan the other day. Although I have to say, I don't know how in the world I lost my original 8x8 pan. Please tell me I'm not the only one who loses stuff like that - as in I didn't use it for years and then one day when I needed it it was gone. So I skipped myself to the store and bought a new one, a better one, skipped back home and celebrated by making a cake. I feel like I've been making a ton of food with fruit it in lately! That's atypical for me, but I ... continue reading...
Lemon Blueberry Pancakes
I'm a simple breakfast kind of gal. I usually stick with some kind of smoothie (which, if I'm honest, doesn't detour in flavor all that much), an egg sandwich with hot sauce, or a Starbucks spinach feta wrap. It's just what I do since mornings are so busy and rushed and I'm already blogging and walking the dogs and having to take care of that hygiene thing. I figure at least I'm eating breakfast, which is a far cry from my college days where I "didn't have time to eat" until about ... continue reading...
Best Dip Ever
Fredericksburg, Texas is home to some of the cutest shops and one of the best small-town downtowns I've ever been too. But nothing matches the store (and I can't remember the name of it now) that is on the main street that has mustards, sauces, pickles, mixes, and all sorts of goodies that you can taste all.day.long. That's where we first discovered Pepper Springs Roasted Garlic Dip, and have been craving it ever since. The package says to mix with 16 oz of sour cream, but I went the Greek ... continue reading...
