Seared Garlic Butter Pierogi with Creamy Dill Dip

Seared Garlic Butter Pierogi with Creamy Dill Dip || HeathersDish.com It’s no secret I love cooking. Not only am I lucky enough to do it for a living, but I am lucky enough to have a family who loves to cook and eat just as much as I do.   I know, how much more awesome could a girl’s life get, right?   While Wes is still too young to stay interested in cooking for long there are so many times that he just wants to sit and watch what I’m doing in the kitchen. It makes me so happy to know that he cares and is interested in it because I’m hoping down the road that will bode well for him in learning to eat well, care for his body well, and provide well for his future family too. Tear. You mean he’s going to grow up and have a family someday?! Seared Garlic Butter Pierogi with Creamy Dill Dip || HeathersDish.com When my sister and I were much much younger we always looked forward to cooking with our parents, and they were always so gracious to allow us to cook with them. Every holiday season my mom would enlist us in creating treat plates for neighbors, teachers and friends. And on the nights that my dad would cook he always let us help him out in the kitchen. One of my favorite memories is of him holding black olives on a cutting board and letting me or my sister cut them in half using the real-life paring knife.   People thought he was slightly nuts for trusting us that much, but it’s a memory that I will always love looking back on and telling to our kids. Those tiny little moments in the kitchen with my parents made me care about food – I want that for my kiddos too! Seared Garlic Butter Pierogi with Creamy Dill Dip || HeathersDish.com Back to right-now life: Wes loves watching when I made bread and knead it all over the countertops. He adores when I make smoothies and/or nut butters in our blender or food processor – and I “let” him turn the knobs to turn the machines on. Talk about a thrill 😉 When I make cakes or something with a hand mixer I’ll usually set him right next to me so he sees what I’m doing and then I talk through it the entire time.   Sure, he’s not even 2 yet. But I want him to care. Seared Garlic Butter Pierogi with Creamy Dill Dip || HeathersDish.com   For this yummy meal of pierogis and dill dipping sauce I did all the hot cooking work, but my little man whipped up with dipping sauce like it was nothing. OK, so maybe I helped him with the whisk, but still. He made it and when all was said and done he was just so proud to dip his little pan-seared pierogi into the finished product. Such gusto!

I also have to brag on Monterey Gourmet Foods here too: simple and delicious meals like this one come together easily when you work with such a great product. They have such a great selection of all natural pastas that are high on flavor and imagination and use super-high-quality ingredients. These pastas are a great way to create meals for your family or entertain, and the shear selection is like bringing the world to your table.

Creating meals for my family is fun, but creating meals WITH my family is just a pure dream. Here’s to many many more to come!

  • 1 (16-ounce) package Monterey Gourmet Foods Potato & Cheese Pierogi
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced finely, divided
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp minced fresh dill
  • 1/2 Tbsp Worchestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Boil the pierogi according to package directions. Remove them from the water onto a plate lightly sprayed with nonstick spray. Heat a large skillet over medium heat until very hot. Add the butter and 2 tablespoons of the garlic, swirling until just melted. Gently place the pierogi in the butter and allow to sear for about 60 seconds per side, just until golden brown. While the pierogi are cooking, whisk together the yogurt, dill, Worchestershire sauce, onions, salt and pepper. Serve the pierogi hot with the dipping sauce and a great side salad for a delicious and filling meal!

Now for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card, tell me, what side dish would you serve with your Monterey Gourmet Foods internationally inspired pasta?
