By nature I’m a pretty introverted person, but thankfully I have no problem pulling out of that natural inclination to be around people that I love. However, when it comes to entertaining I tend to be a pretty anxious person – I love being around our friends and family, but I always come from a place of wanting everything to be perfect. And if it’s not perfect? Let’s just say there’s a potential major freakout on the horizon. Seriously…it can be pretty sad. Luckily Nate loves me well through it, right? If you have ever read Sandy’s blog, Reluctant Entertainer, you can see that entertaining well and stylishly doesn’t have to be hard!
There are so many things to love about Sandy and her blog, but my favorite is the approachability – both of her as the wonderful person she is, and her take on entertaining. She reminds me time and time again that nothing has to be perfect, and that the real reason behind entertaining and hospitality is to be around friends and family that you love. It’s about getting to know people and creating an environment that is conducive to sharing life together. It’s about connecting and making others feel welcome. In fact she has a whole list of 10 commandments here that will rock your entertaining world!
I love getting inspiration for a fabulous garden (that I promise I will someday have!) from Sandy. Y’all, if for no other reason you have to at least see her outdoor entertaining area (she posts amazing pictures of it on her blog) – I am IN LOVE with it! Being outdoors is something that Nate and I both really love (turns out Weston loves it too), and we dream of someday having a place where we can entertain outside all the time. I think it not only brings us closer to nature, but it makes the whole hospitality thing so much more intimate.
Y’all, from the fantastic and easy recipes to the decorating ideas to the gardening inspiration, we can all find something that speaks to us on Reluctant Entertainer. I just love how Sandy explains entertaining, how she shows it’s simplicity, and how she gives such great examples of what to do and the mindset to have. Every day I look forward to seeing what she’s posted, and I always ALWAYS check out her pictures on Instagram! Sandy, thank you for being such a beautiful person with such a beautiful heart, and for sharing your passion with cultivating relationships through hospitality. You’re an inspiration and I love what you do!
