There are some things you should know about me…things that might tarnish my image as we know it.

I don’t like cotton candy.  I don’t like Peeps or marshmallows in general.  I don’t like Walmart sugar cookies (you know the kind – with the powder icing).  And I don’t like hot chocolate.

But y’all, when you have an 85-lb bag of chocolate chips and a freak surprise snow storm you get creative.

I couldn’t believe how simple it was either…you whisk together the dry ingredients, add the wet ingredients, and heat.

Done and done.

P.S. Can we talk about how much I am in LOVE with this post?  I want to go dancing, and I don’t care that it’s 6AM.

I want to light this up like it’s dynomite 😉

BUT since it doesn’t appear any clubs in the greater Denver area are open as I type this I’ll just resort to checking for typos since it’s hard to dance and write at the same time.

P.P.S. Do you like how I took a picture of the metric side of the measuring cup for the milk?  Hey, distraction happens to best of us!

Look at this perfect little dollop of peanut butter and tell me your heart isn’t melting as you gaze upon its creamy, silky face.  Just you wait til it’s added to the hot chocolate…then we’ll talk!

And finally, the pièce de résistance:  the chocolate.  I don’t even know how much of this I added…I just melted them in til it felt right.  I think that’s really the only way to measure chocolate.

PEANUT BUTTER HOT CHOCOLATE

  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 cup milk (I used nonfat cow’s milk, but you can use whatever you have on hand)
  • 1 Tbsp peanut butter
  • pinch of sea salt
  • however many chocolate chips you want!

Whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and sea salt.  Whisk in the water and milk, and heat over medium heat until all cocoa, sugar, and salt are dissolved.  Remove from the heat and whisk in the peanut butter and chocolate chips til melted.  Pour into a mug.

And enjoy!

Your picture is so cute at the end…perfect end to a wonderful recipe. I love everything you posted…cotton candy to boot! But I am a sweet eater, where my hubby is more of a salt guy.

I’m not usually a hot chocolate fan either, but if you put PB (especially that beautiful little dollop 😉 ) in Anything? I’ll give it a try….

I love hot chocolate but not so much the peanut butter. (I know, I’m the one blogger who isn’t crazy about nut butters.) But my husband, on the other hand, would die for this. I’m totally making this for him when we get our first snowstorm–which I hope isn’t any time soon.
