Y’all, I don’t even know where to start with this. It feels like so long ago Jessica and I both started our blogs and somehow, some way, through the magical power of the internet met and became friends. I remember the days that we would complain about our crappy jobs, our frustration with not being able to spend more time on our blogs, and how much we both loved Ree Drummond.
She has been an amazing friend to me, helping me out when we miscarried by letting me post some of her recipes – just a simple way to add some normal back to our life. She was there when I had breakdown after breakdown of being tired of my desk job and wanting so badly to blog for a living. She’s been honest, loving and truly a friend for some time now, so it’s no surprise that when her book landed on my doorstep a few weeks ago I started crying tears of joy for my sweet friend.
See, I remember the day that she quit her job that she hated. I remember how she took a retail job to make ends meet while working day in and day out on her blog. I remember her thirst to learn more about food, about photography, about blogging and writing – and then taking action on it. I remember thinking all the while that I don’t know if I’d ever met anyone so motivated with a work ethic like Jessica’s. And even more than all of that, her humility in it all is astounding. Y’all, she has built an empire with nothing but her incredible humor, charm, foodie knowledge and desire to learn. It’s rare to find that these days, and I’m so exceptionally proud of all the hard work I know my girl has put in!
I could talk for ages about how excited and proud I am of Jessica, but more than that I think you guys need to know this: her cookbook is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It’s more than just recipes – it’s stories, wisdom, wit and inspiration, all bound into a gorgeous 300+ page volume. Every recipe, every chapter, every part is Jessica through-and-through. I have cried tears of laughter reading some of the recipe descriptions and have already laden my copy with sticky notes for all of the tips, tricks and recipes.
As for me and my house? Well, we’ve already made and devoured a batch of her “Not-So-Boring Bran Muffins,” I have a container of “Homemade Tart Frozen Yogurt” in the freezer and have the “Mocha Coconut Tiramisu” on the menu for next week. I am obsessed with Chapter 7 (Lighten Up – just not too much) and am planning much of our Fall menu for gamedays and holidays from Chapter 8 (Celebrations – for times when calories don’t count).
I would also say that I love how a lot of the recipes have several different components, a lot of which sound really great on their own, and all have tips on how to make it work. This is a real-deal use-it-in-real-life cookbook – a hard thing to find these days. And I’m so so so SO (so?) excited to get to share it with you guys too!
That’s right, one of y’all will be getting a copy as well! Giveaway details are below but first – if you want to know more about Jessica’s book then click here and if you want to know more about her book tour then click here!
