My StitchFix Experience (#3)

Stitch Fix Rules!

Oh shopping.  Such a love-hate relationship!

I am completely that woman who mothers at home in workout clothes and only really wears real-people clothes when I go out in public.  Not really because I care what other people see me in (per se) but more because I want to smell nice instead of sweaty.

Is that normal?  I really really hope so…

Stitch Fix Rules!HOWEVER when I step back and look at my clothes lately I can’t say I’m really all that impressed.  Apparently I like to wear a lot of black, a lot of T-shirts, and a lot of hoodies/pullovers.  I know what’s in style, but I don’t really know how to make it work for me, especially when we have a limited budget and I can’t just go out and buy a whole new wardrobe when I find that my pre-baby clothes are all getting too big.  Trust me, I’m thankful for that, but at the same time it makes wearing grown-up clothes a little challenging.

Stitch Fix Rules!I haven’t made it a secret that I really enjoy StitchFix, and I’ll tell you two of the biggest reasons why:

  1. IT IS SO STINKING CONVENIENT.  Y’all, they deliver the clothes to your door, you have three days to try them on and style them with other clothes you currently own, and then shipping back is free and they include the bag.  It’s kind of a no-brainer for me when my schedule is all over the place and I just don’t know when I’ll be able to go shopping.
  2. THE CLOTHES ARE REALLY CUTE.  I love that I have the option to have my stylist pick out things that are similar to what I already love or to pick out new fun things that I would probably never look at if I were doing it all myself.  Each item comes with a little card showing you how you could wear it, which is inspiring to say the least!

Stitch Fix Rules!

I’ll be honest, I have a really difficult body to style for, so there have been times that I have only kept one thing from my fixes; I have broad shoulders, muscular arms, a straight waist, and muscular legs.  I love my body and wouldn’t change anything about it (other than keeping it strong), but it definitely makes the clothes thing a little difficult at times.  I’ll say this though: with each fix I get more and more amazing options, thanks to the ability to give my stylist feedback.  My newest shirt from my last fix is probably one of my favorite things ever, and I love that it’s super easy to layer for Fall/Winter/Early Spring but light enough to pair with summer clothes too!

So it’s $20.00 down and then you get that credit back for your first “fix”.. then whatever you decide to keep, you pay for correct?

Hey Christine! The $20 styling fee goes toward anything that you keep, even if it’s only one item; however, if you send it all back then they would keep the $20. And that’s on every fix, so whatever you keep will always have that fee going toward it!

hmmm so every month you have $20 to spend with them? Either you put it towards an item or they keep it?

I have gotten two fixes so far and LOVE it. I used to be fashionable but somehow the last 5 years or so fallen into a rout. They pick out stuff I never would have thought of and have elevated my wardrobe quite a bit!

I SO want to try it but I’m bit apprehensive about it at the same time. I LIVE in yoga pants during the week and ONLY “dress up” during the weekends. lol P.s. That shirt looks amazing on you!! 😀 Maybe I’ll check it out finally instead of being such a sissy about it! lol

I totally understand – I have to schedule my fixes pretty far apart to make sure I’m not spending too much! Totally worth it though since I’m finally dressing more my age 🙂

Just two gals who crushed a 50 minute run today! Just two gals who crushed a 50 minute run today!

As we move into goal setting for the new year, may I suggest starting with your physical health? Not to fit the bikini body mold that society normalizes, but to actually BE as healthy as possible. When everything hit the fan for me this year I dug into two things that have been integral to creating positive growth and a healthier mindset:

1️⃣ my relationship with God
2️⃣ my physical health

What that’s looked like for me on the health front: holding fast to my commitment to whole food nutrition, grace for the days when I choose otherwise, pushing myself to lift heavier in workouts, and taking up running again.

What’s happened as a result? When I push myself physically, when I choose to practice discipline to do what I know is best for my body, it makes it infinitely easier to choose that same healthy discipline in every other area of life. You want to dominate your goals? Start with your health!
Remember when I blogged about food? 😂 Gosh the Remember when I blogged about food? 😂 Gosh the past few months have been nuts. I’m still over here figuring out how to eat well without sacrificing my life in the kitchen, and this is a bowl I couldn’t NOT share with y’all. The best thing is that everything is almost always on hand in my fridge, it’s packed with nutrition, and tastes AMAZING!

In the bowl:
-rice mixed with Trader Joe’s Zhoug sauce
-broiled shredded Brussels sprouts
-chickpeas
-baby arugula
-grilled chicken breast
-Romesco sauce (from Trader Joe’s but I usually make my own)
-a little tzaziki sauce

This meal has been on repeat all week, only changing the rice for riced cauliflower and omitting the chickpeas on low carb days. YUM! I find that if I have a variety of roasted veggies, grilled chicken, and a few different sauces on hand I can almost always come up with a great bowl for almost any meal!
It’s a beautiful day for Small Business Saturday It’s a beautiful day for Small Business Saturday y’all! Almost 4 years ago I took a leap of faith and said yes to this job in an effort to create another stream of revenue. I had NO CLUE that it would change my life for the better in almost every way, that it would reignite my passion for health and community, that it would provide in so many beautiful ways. But it has, and I am so thankful to all of you who have trusted me and supported me along the way.

When you shop with a small business you are literally a hero in their eyes, validating and supporting and protecting them. You guys are my heroes, and I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your day: 3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your day:

1️⃣ SMILE! Even if you don’t feel like it, smiling (even forcing it to the point of feeling weird) has actually been scientifically proven to improve mood, lower stress, and boost your immune system. I actually recommend doing it awkwardly around other people because it’ll make them smile too 😉

2️⃣ GRATITUDE! Right now, before you talk yourself out of it, say or write 3 things you’re thankful for. Big, small, or in between. In this moment I’m going to say sticky notes, my Le Creuset Dutch Oven, and the Hamilton soundtrack. BOOM!

3️⃣MOVE! Get up off your tush, right now, and move your body. Walk around your house, do some jumping jacks, lock yourself in the bathroom and do a little dance, whatever. This isn’t about looking cool, it’s about giving yourself a better day.

Things are hard, ambiguity and uncertainty isn’t fun, but we can control ONE THING: ourselves. Praying that you choose to gift yourself a little bit of happiness today!

Now, tell me below, what’s one thing you’re thankful for RIGHT NOW?
