Happy Valentine’s Day my beautiful friends 🙂 I hope you guys have something fun planned with someone[s] you love, and I hope that you are able to build amazing memories for years to come!
This weekend we are going to be celebrating the incredibly inspiring life of my Grandma who passed away a few days ago. While I am incredibly sad that she’s gone, I am truly so thankful for her in every way possible.
I remember a time not long ago when we would play Uno together,
where she taught me how to play Solitaire,
where she demanded that I not read at the dinner table.
I remember the way my Papa would still pinch her butt and the way that she blushed but also loved that he still did it.
I remember the lasagna and salad she always had waiting for us when we finished the long drive from Texas to Northern California,
and the fact that she was the one who introduced me to Days of Our Lives.
I remember so many things and then I realize that I blinked and was no longer 10 but rather 29. I looked away for one second and all of a sudden I’m a grown woman with a child of my own, and I can’t help but be faced with the fact that life is so very incredibly short. We’re never promised tomorrow, but today we have a choice. Today we can waste away in self-doubt, frustration, jealousy and anger.
Or today we can choose love.Â
So today, which is really just another day, is ALSO another day that we can choose to love one another well.
I choose love today, and tomorrow I will choose love again. And the day after that, as long as I live.
I love you guys. Happy Valentine’s Day 🙂

I love this post…choose love. Such an important reminder to not just focus on choosing love once a year, but rather every moment we’re alive. Thanks, Heather. 🙂

Your grandmother sounds like she was quite the lady. If you’re headed to the Bay Area to do final goodbyes, safe travels. And Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!

I lost my grandfather just a few days ago, and it’s a unique experience to realize that we have entered that time in our life where the pillars of our childhood are starting to leave us. I so hope you are comforted by wonderful memories of your grandmother.

I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother. Grandmother’s are special people with the ability to be like a mother but your friend as well. No judgement just love. What a perfect day to remind us all to get over ourselves and just choose love. Thank you for the reminder. May The Lord be with you and your family this weekend.
