I’m a super protective mommy, honestly most times probably to a fault. I want my little guy to eat well, play safe, stay germ-free (really Heather? A germ-free little boy?) and be safe in all the places we go together. When we first started off in this parenting journey we had (and still have) no clue what we’re doing most days. And as over-protective as I can be, I had no clue what to look for in safety features for things like swings and carriers and car seats for Wes.
Initially we just went with recommendations from friends, but as time has worn on we’ve started doing our own research as well (p.s. our friends were all totally right, but that’s neither here nor there). The first car seat we ever got for Wes was a Britax, and we have loved it so much for a variety of reasons. It’s easy to use, aesthetically pleasing (I know that sounds silly…), well-made, and most importantly we love the safety that we can literally see.
Now please not that I am not a safety inspector; Lord knows that even though I love details, I would likely be terrible at that job. But I DO know what feels right when it comes to taking care of our little dude, and the day we started using our Britax Boulevard 70-G3 car seat it was love at first click.
I remember it well: we took out the old base for our old carrier seat and Nate carefully installed the new Britax. We quadruple checked everything and then put Wes in the seat for a nice little Saturday drive through the beautifully changing fall countryside. Have I mentioned that Arkansas is gorgeous by the way? I am pretty sure fall here is better than almost anywhere else…
Anyway, it was just such a fun little family outing. Riding in the car has never really been Weston’s favorite activity, but he was comfy and secure while we all talked and sang songs and dreamed dreams. Life is changing in a lot of big ways these days, and those big dreams keep getting bigger and bigger. It just felt so right to take a small time-out to be with my guys in the car that day to relax through it all.
So a couple things that I love about this car seat (also note we have both the Boulevard and the Marathon and love them both!):
- They were easy to install. We are such a no-fuss family, so finding a car seat that we could take in and out of cars easily is a must. This one was easy and secure, which we loved.
- They are fantastically convertible. Wes is a growing boy, and we love that they both had options of inserts for pretty much any size of child. Wes has always been tall (we’re a tall family) and it’s been so nice to have something that fits his body well.
- They are easy to use. Getting the straps and snaps and clips around a wiggly toddler is certainly a test of endurance for any mommy; I love that these are easily adjustable and always get a perfect fit.
I used to panic that I didn’t buckle him in right, that it was too tight or too loose or off or something, but honestly every time I have fastened Wes into our Britax I’ve felt at ease about the amount of safety surrounding him. Whether it’s extra layers of foam, steel bars, side impact cushioning or the 5-point attachment system – it’s all there, in front of our face, to remind us we made a good decision for our family.
But y’all? Despite all of that, there’s really nothing that makes a mom feel better than peace of mind knowing her little one(s) are in the safest place they can be. My son is precious to me, one of the greatest gifts in the world, and I’ll take that over-protective spirit any day if it means I can take care of him better!
Safety matters when it comes to car seats. I want one that will protect my child. And Britax convertible car seats have so many safety features — and knowing that makes me feel like my child is safe while in the car. Click here to learn more about Britax safety features.
