How cute is this baby?! Wait, don’t answer that because I already know – he’s THE CUTEST!
So first of all let me go ahead and say that I won’t be doing any “official” update posts weekly anymore, BUT I will be doing Family Friday posts to talk about our weekly goings on. I love being able to look back at past posts and see how much Wes has grown and developed, which is exactly why I’ll keep talking about life as a mommy. Plus it’s kind of the most fun thing ever, being a mommy to this little nugget. Why wouldn’t I talk about it? 🙂
This week has been a little better as far as sleeping goes. Wes was really struggling last week, waking up several times a night and feeding and crying for a long time before going back to bed. It really wore on both of us but thankfully we’ve worked through it and he’s been gradually sleeping longer and longer every night. I love being a mother all the time, but I have to admit it’s a lot more fun and a lot easier when we’re both rested!
Last weekend I finally caved and bought him some baby sunglasses and a hat for when we go on walks. It’s been a lot warmer this week so we haven’t had a ton of “practice” wearing them outside, but I’m hoping this weekend we’ll get out some. I mean really, baby sunglasses? I die.
Something that happened this week and is currently the death of me is that our air conditioner broke. Luckily our house has an attic fan that helps circulate air, but the way our house faces means that the most used rooms get all of the afternoon sun. And I’m not a fan of being hot since I am, I’m afraid, the sweatiest woman on the face of this planet. The good news is that Wes doesn’t seem to mind it…
Random fact: I’m recording just about every.single.movie that’s playing this weekend for Father’s Day. I can’t wait to waste my time watching them with Nate and Weston…it’s going to be glorious!
Overall everything is going really well and just keeps getting better. Wes is awesome, Nate is awesome, I’m sore and tired and happy. Oh, did I tell y’all that I actually did start Insanity this week? Yeah. OUCH. But in a really good way. I even took “before” photos (that I may or may not share) so that I can actually see the progress. I don’t expect to have results right away, or even anything like what you see on the infomercials, but so far I love it and feel super motivated, which is more than I can say for the programs that I was doing for myself. I’m not following the meal plan, but rather just eating oatmeal and MASSIVE salads because that’s what sounds really good right now. Hopefully in a few weeks I’ll have a better update for you guys!
So let’s end on this question that I asked on Twitter yesterday: If you’re a mom, when/ how did you cut back on the number of feedings with your kiddos? Wes isn’t ready yet but I’m just curious. We are loosely following the guidelines inBaby Wise as well as recommendations from our pediatrician, and I know that every kiddo is different. I just like hearing what other people have done because usually somewhere in there is a good balance that we can look to follow too!
Happy Friday y’all!

He is the cutest! Awww! ….I’m sure being a mommy is much more pleasant for all involved when there is some rest involved. I’m not a mommy quite yet so I have no advice or help but hopefully there are some smart mommies out there to give some good advice on the whole feeding thing.
And, way to go on the insanity thing! Way to be motivated!

Oh my gosh…can Weston get any stinkin’ cuter? He is so precious!
Feeding? Well, it’s been a while for me, but I nursed my daughter until she was 12 months, and she kind of decided how many feedings she needed a day at that point. I hope you and Nate get some much needed (and much eserved) sleep soon! 🙂

Ella sleeps through the night 8-10 hours now so my feedings are every 2-3 hours during the day but they are short about 10 minutes and then a long one at night 20-30 minutes and long one in the morning 20-30 minutes. Total about 2 hours of feeding within a 24 hour period. Then we have a morning nap 2-3 hours and afternoon nap 2-3 hours. Depending on the day or the nap i might add a 3rd nap if the others are shortened. But she sleeps a total of 15 hours a day on average. I am trying to make a routing but it doesn’t always work.

We just bought Lila her first pair of baby sunglasses too 🙂
So, the other morning, I watched the Insanity infomercial when Lila and I were both up at 5:45– and just WATCHING it scared the crap out of me!! I’m impressed that you’re doing it– it looks SO hard!! I bet you’ll see major results!

Yay for Insanity! I did it in the spring of 2011 before my wedding and it was awesome! Post wedding, er, there was a lot of celebrating and a toe injury. I’m doing it again, though, and I’m already in the recovery week. Just keep going! The MAX workouts are great, too!

that’s so great to hear – i’ve heard mixed reviews but love it so far. plus it’s nice to get it all done in a 45-minute workout 🙂
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
what a cutie pie and how big he’s gotten…overnight!

It’s sounds like you’ve really found a workout groove. I hate following any type of meal plan. Following a meal plan [in my opinion] turns eating into a chore + meal creating less fun. So happy you’re doing what feels right for you! And Wes IS so cute!!

Great photos- so glad things are going so well for you and your beautiful family! Lula is almost 9 months and I still nurse her 8-9 times a day…her feedings last less than ten minutes so it’s pretty tolerable. I do a “dream feed” at 9:30 every night and that keeps her happy overnight. We do some solids but my focus is still primarily nursing…
