Small-Batch Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Small-Batch Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies || HeathersDish.com

Y'all, this whole trying-to-eat-well-during-the-holidays-as-a-food-blogger thing is tough stuff. I'll be honest, I'm eating about 85% clean, but I still can't seem to shake this sugar craving I have every night after dinner. Those desserts, man, they'll get ya, right? Thankfully I've been able to kick the dessert craving that I was having after lunch - yes, it's true - but sometimes it just feels like a meal isn't finished without a little sweet somethin' afterwards. Luckily I've come up with ... continue reading...

5 Lessons I Learned from Traveling Alone

5 Lessons I Learned from Traveling Alone || HeathersDish.com

My roommates in college thought I was crazy, but I was totally that girl who would go to movies and restaurants by myself. Not in a sad way; I just figured if I wanted to go and no one else could then I would just still go. No big deal, and besides the alone time was nice. It allowed me to collect my thoughts, pray through stuff, and otherwise be entertained without feeling like I needed to talk or think about someone else. Sounds a little selfish, right? But it was always just so nice to have ... continue reading...

San Diego: A Trip to Remember, Part 1

San Diego: A Trip to Remember, Part 1 (with Bumble Bee Foods + the #BeeSquad)

In case y'all missed my Instagram feed, this past weekend I spent an amazing few days in San Diego, California, courtesy of Bumble Bee Foods as part of my Bee Squad membership. I've been part of a fantastic group of bloggers working with Bumble Bee's line of delicious gourmet flavors and quality tuna, and this weekend housed a really great event that pulled us all together from across the country. (Up there you see me with Dorothy and Ali - such wonderful gals!) I have so much more to tell ... continue reading...

Roasted Poblano, Chicken and Quinoa Soup

Soup. It just screams comfort, doesn't it? When I picture myself sitting down to a really great cozy meal, soup is always there. For me the act of eating soup is just so earthy - whether you sip it politely, slurp it ravenously or gulp it via bowl-to-face it's just such a down-to-earth way of eating.   OR, if you're like me, you love to eat soup of pretty much any kind with lots of bread, tortillas or chips to aid in the sipping/slurping/gulping process.   Tell me that's ... continue reading...

Sweet Potato Coffee Cake with Gingersnap Streusel + The Best Part

Sweet Potato Coffee Cake with Gingersnap Streusel || HeathersDish.com

When I think of coffee cake I think of warmth. Love. Community. Sunday mornings with family and friends, or maybe a great big Thanksgiving morning breakfast full of goodies to eat for the day. I think of surrounding myself with people I love, laughing and playing and being together. I believe that's how life should be all the time: surrounded by loved ones and sharing the good stuff together. The bad stuff has a place too, because let's face it - without the bad then the good just wouldn't be as ... continue reading...

Easy + Light

Matthew 11:30 || HeathersDish.com

The other day I had the privilege of hanging out at FamilyLife with some of my Arkansas Women Blogger girlfriends. We toured the building, had some fantastic fellowship and to-die-for food. There is so much good that comes from spending time with like-minded friends who speak wisdom and grace into your life. Suffice to say I had an amazing time all-around. Afterwards I was chatting with one of my favorite gals on the planet, talking about blogging the way that only bloggers can. Words like ... continue reading...

Coconut Butter Bark with Cacao Nibs and Dried Cranberries

Coconut Butter Bark with Cacao Nibs and Dried Cranberries || HeathersDish.com #VitaCost #fitfluential #healthyeating #dessert

The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Vitacost. As I sit down and write this post it occurs to me that I have just eaten about a cup of ice cream, right after having enjoyed some yummy game day food with great friends. Not so much the healthy diet that I try to achieve most days, although I will say that it's good for me to be able to splurge like that from time to time. BUT while I don't think it's the end of the world I'd be remiss if I didn't admit that I feel ... continue reading...

Home for the Holidays

The year was 2006. I was newly engaged, planning a wedding, finishing up my senior year in college and looking brightly to the future with a promising new job and a rockstar soon-to-be husband. Nate was about to embark on some new adventures in Dallas for the summer while I finished up with school, but before he moved and life got even more hectic we decided one day, on a whim, that it was high time we go register for gifts for our wedding. Off we trotted to the nearest store and started ... continue reading...

Live Boldly

#LiveBoldly Day 31: Now What?

#LiveBoldly Day 31: Now What? || HeathersDish.com #31days #fall #landscapes

Wow. I did it - I dared myself to live boldly for 31 days and wrote about it. Honestly it didn't all go as planned; about halfway through I couldn't think of any other activities to do that would make me feel more bold in life. I started to feel rundown and tired, both physically and emotionally. I thought about quitting. I kept thinking of all the goals and things I want to do by the end of the year, none of which felt like they were being served by completing this little dare. But I also ... continue reading...
