I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I adore bread.ย And I don’t discriminate…I love all kinds.ย Tortillas, French, Italian, focaccia, ciabatta, whole wheat, bagels, sourdough…LOVE!
So it should really be no surprise that I ate 2.5 bagels yesterday.ย OOPS ๐
First up, a blueberry bagel with mango peach cream cheese:
See, what had happened was our boss brought us all bagels because she’s sweet like that.ย But it turns out that I just can’t stop after one!ย Lunch was a simple ham sandwich on an asiago bagel:
I could probably eat a baker’s dozen of asiago bagels any day of the week.ย But really.ย I also snacked on half of a blueberry bagel later in the day til I got sick of bread (WHA?!)
Don’t worry, that only lasted about 3 hours. Then it was clearly time for pizza:
This was a Boboli whole wheat crust with 1 cup of frozen spinach mixed with a 1/2 cup of jarred alfredo sauce.ย Spread that on the crust, then top with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and garlic.ย Top with mozzarella and a TINY bit of parmesan.ย Wash it all down with some fresh strawberries and sugar and you will likely die and go to foodie heaven ๐
So thank you all for the sweet things you said on the blog yesterday about me struggling a little with my body image again.ย I think the biggest thing for me to remember is I never wanted this change to be a quick and easy one, and it hasn’t been.ย But I am enjoying the journey, learning about what works for me, and really appreciate all of the love, support, and encouragement from you guys!
This week I am so exhausted that I feel like I’m walking around in a dream world! I haven’t been getting as much sleep (maybe 5-6 hours a night), and Nate’s been staying up late working on a project for one of our friends, and for some reason every morning the dogs have been jumping up on the bed to get us up about 30-45 minutes before the alarm goes off.ย Really?ย Really.ย There’s no better way to make me angry than to wake me up before I’m supposed to! I know that in a couple days we’ll be able to sleep in, Nate will be done with his project, and all will be right in the world again…but for now I’ll be chugging black tea and water and hoping for the best! ๐
How many hours of sleep do you get per night?ย Do you stick to that, or does it fluctuate?ย And, if you stick to that, what do you do to make sure you get to bed on time? I’d love all the help I can get!
I got so addicted to bagels last week, I ate approx. 3 / day ๐
mango peach cream cheese?!?! holy moly! i feel like ive been under a rock with these delicious flavors!! i want to try so bad! ๐
I NEED at least 7 hours a sleep a night or else Im a cranky pants! I just try to have the same routine every night and it helps me know exactly what to do to prepare for bed, and its as if my body knows what its getting ready for!
AHHH hate that feeling of the dream world scenario!! hahah..
i MUST get more sleep!!! gahh!
I love bagels too, and could easily eat two or three a day.
I like to get seven to eight hours of sleep a night, which seems to keep me feeling the healthiest and most energetic during the day. During the school year my schedule’s pretty regular, but this summer I’ve been staying up later than usual, and really like it.
Mango-peach cream cheese? I need some of that in my life! I usually need 7 hours of sleep to feel refreshed in the AM. It has been so hot this week I’m feeling extra sluggish. I dont know how I ever managed to pull all-nighters in college.
I feel ya on the lack of sleep!! I try to stick to 7-8 a night, but have been waning. I feel awesome on 7-8 a night, but sometimes can’t swing it!
My method of getting into bed??? My husband yells at me and then picks me up and puts me in bed, takes my computer, and turns off the lights…sometimes it works ๐

I’d say I get anywhere between 7 and 9 per night and honestly, I think I function best on 9. I do not do well at all if I get less than 7, I can’t seem to concentrate, I’m moody, well, more than usual, and I get so tired.
Sorry to hear you haven’t been sleeping ๐
Sorry to hear you haven’t slept well and are tired. I have been sleeping terrible lately.. I had a big presentation today and now that’s over I am hoping tonight I sleep like a baby.
Panera asiago bagels are my absolute favorite.
I am a napper. I would much rather get a 6 or so hours of sleep at night and then take a nap in the afternoon. Now that it’s the summer (I’m a teacher) I’m getting to sleep in, which is luxurious.
I try to shoot for 7-8 hours of sleep each night. That’s not always the case with my little one… so I take what I can get ๐
nothing wrong with bagels! I love cinnamon bagels and blueberry!
I need 7-8 hours. And unfortunately, I am NOT consistent. I am trying to be though!
Hmmmmm bagels.
I need 7 hours, 8 is ideal. Any less than 7 and I really drag in the afternoons. I try to impose a strict “no computer after 9:00” rule, but there are too many nights it gets pushed back to 9:30…10:00…haha. I’m always in bed by 10:30, though.
Mango Peach Cream Cheese sounds like heaven!
This post is bagel-licious! And had me drooling… I love bread…
Lately I’ve been in a sleep rut- 6 hours is lucky. Usually I try for 7, but my body is resisting. I don’t like it!
*well
Ugh– I HATE it when I’m not getting enough sleep! If I get less than about 7 hours, I get seriously grumpy. Which bodes will for when we have kids. ๐
I get 8-10 hours of sleep a night. How? I’m currently unemployed, so even if I go to bed late at 11 or 12, I still can just sleep into whenever. When I am working I totally adjust my bedtime accordingly.. usually to 930-1030. I truly just need 8-10 hours of sleep and can’t function without it.
I am a bread addict too. I LOVE bagels and cream cheese. I try not to keep them in the house as a result. ๐
I usually get about 7…I can handle 6 though. I don’t like getting too much. I always feel fuzzy throughout the day!
I really aim for 8 hrs/night but I can function on 7. Anything less than 6 hours and I’m right there with you in dream world! I try get in bed by 10 and watch TV, play on the laptop or chat with Billy until my eyes get sleepy. Lately, I’ve been staying up til almost midnight…I need to break that pattern! ๐
I need 8 hours at least because of stress. I’m going to shoot for a shorter workout today in hopes I can have more time when I get home. I do tons at night: computer, piano, dinner, workout, prepare for the next day (not all in that order.) I try and finish as quick as possible so I can relax.
Mmm nice job with the pizza! That looks soooo good.
I try to get around seven hours. I’m off from college for the summer, though, so that may be easier for me to do than others. Once school starts, though- sleeping goes out the window, haha. By the way, I just discovered your blog and the fact that you seem like a carbaholic like me is awesome! And you did pretty well with having bagels at the office. I think I would have done a lot more damage, haha.
O-M-G! Your boss is awesome!!! Those bagels look so amazing….I am now craving bagels like crazy!! haha
I vary from 2-3 hours of sleep to 10 hours….its not really a balanced sleep pattern but thats the life of a college student i guess haha….I do try to get about 6-7 hours a night if possible though.
I find the older I get the more sleep I need? Researchers say we need about 8-9hrs. That is because when we go to bed, we actually do not fall asleep right away.
So the theory goes, if you go to bed at 10pm and wake up at 7am, you would say you got 9hrs of sleep. Really, you probably didn’t fall asleep until 10:30 or so and may have woken up once to go to the bathroom and then taken some time to fall back asleep. They say if you have animals, you may be woken up more than once per night. Anywho, that would give you a “REM” sleep time of about 8hrs, which is what we really need. REM sleep of 7-8hrs is good, if you get REM.
Ok, I usually go back to something I read…but it does seem to work for me. I try to go to bed by 10-10:15pm and the dogs wake me up by 7am. I at least feel rested.
Now to get to bed by 10pm, which we have gone over sometimes this summer, I have to make a concious effort. I set our lights on a timer for 10pm…if they go off and I am still out watching TV, then I know that is my cue to head to bed. If you make it a routine like that, then your body knows, ok, lights out, time for bed and your body will start its process. My husband also knows, there is not enough coffee to make up for my lost sleep, so let Mary get her sleep. ๐
I usually try to get at least 7 hours a night. I find that any less than that and I am kind of mean! haha!
Mmmm…..asiago bagels are my all-time favorite!!!
I am the wrong person to give sleep advice to. I usually only get 5-6 hours. I try to get more, but my body doesn’t let me sleep any longer than that for some reason.
