…is now gone thanks to the awesome Rubbermaid All-Access line!!!!
Want to know something about me? I used to be 1,000% Type-A OCD clean freak. True story. Everything in my life was color-coded and perfectly pressed. I color coordinated my closet. I folded my underwear. If ever there was a garment that should never have to be folded I can now clearly see that garment is underwear. I mean really, what’s the point?
And yet I did it. So proudly too.
What happened? One might say that I got tired of all the upkeep of having a perfectly organized room/apartment/house. One might also say that I married someone who isn’t nearly as Type-A as I was and I got tired of fighting it. One might also say that I started blogging, worked full-time, then had a baby and REALLY worked full-time and something had to give.
Or one might say it was all three. Because holy heaven, that’s what it was!
Every now and then, though, that old Type-A bug will creep back in and I will be THISCLOSE to freaking out and throwing everything we own away just to get rid of the clutter. Seriously. I was talking to my sweet friend Mandy yesterday and we both talked about how sometimes when we just want a change we just have to have the change RIGHTTHISSECOND or else it will likely drive us crazy.
This Christmas was such a blast and we are so blessed we got to see everyone in our family – and I mean EVERYONE – during the time we were in Austin and Dallas. It was completely awesome. The only thing that has a note of not-as-awesome to it though? The fact that all of Weston’s toys (which we totally asked for – no one to blame but me and Nate on this one!) have small parts, and lots of them. Throw in the fact that half the fun for him is tearing everything apart and trying to put it back together himself, and yeah…it’s a messy house for me.
Luckily Rubbermaid has this really great line of storage containers that not only make it easy to put stuff away, but it also makes everything easy to access for ALL of us. I can put things away (and teach Wes to do so too) and my little guy can get it out easily as well. They’re stackable and easy to to open. They make organizing our home a breeze.
And they make the Type-A in me oh so very happy!
So basically what we did was this: we put all of the handyman stuff in one, all of the stuffed toys in another, all of the train parts and cars in a third, and all of the nicer toys in the very top (so that I can make sure he’s not just crushing them with other things). Wes learned how to open the little windows really quickly, and loves that he can control opening and closing them to get things out. I put everything away the other night and the next morning he was literally GIGGLING with excitement to pull it all out and put it up again!
So while I may not be all crazy-clean lady anymore (most days) it really is nice to have a place to put all of the things!
