When it comes to Christmas decor I tend to be a little picky and not want to put a bunch of stuff out.
That’s not to say if I had all the money in the world I wouldn’t turn our home into a winter wonderland, but at this point in time a Christmas tree, a mantle full of lights, a few of our favorite ornaments and Christmas knick-knacks does just the trick for me! Take the snowglobe above – it’s just hanging out on the mantle, but the moment the lights go on it’s lit up and glorious. Who wouldn’t love that?
Or the Nutcracker below…he has sentimental value because he’s been in my house growing up since as long as I can remember. When we danced in The Nutcracker when we were in elementary school I would pretend to be Clara and dance around with him in my arms.
This JOY ornament set below is probably one of my all-time favorites just because it’s beautiful and it stands as a great reminder of why we celebrate this season in the first place!
Wreck ’em Tech! I still love you even though this football season has been the most awful I’ve ever seen. This ornament always makes me daydream of college and how fun it was…why can’t that just be real life?
When I pulled these next two out of Bunker and Keira when they were puppies I lost it. Big, fat crocodile tears went rolling down my face and I stopped decorating the tree to go snuggle the pups for a bit.
Nate’s Mimon would get him an ornament every year growing up – he has so many good ones, but we picked a few of our favorites to go up around the tree. This one is my absolute favorite – the colors are gorgeous when they’re lit up!
This was our wedding cake topper 🙂
And this one…well, this one I “won” in an ornament exchange. And by “won” I mean I saw it, took it, and never gave it to anyone else ever again. Shorty don’t play when it comes to good ornaments 🙂
I honestly LOVE coming home and plugging in our Christmas tree every night. There’s just something overwhelmingly peaceful about seeing the lights glowing in the dark, the ornaments we’ve come to love, and serenity of it all that just makes me sit back and breathe. And at the end of a long day when you accidentally pull out the entire drawer of silverware and then have the meltdown of a lifetime over it…that breathing thing can come in handy!

Plugging in the tree is my favorite, for sure! Ornaments with sentimental value are definitely way better than those regular store bought ones. 😉

I love this! Pulling out all of my family’s christmas tree ornaments is always full of happy emotion, giddiness, and “remember this?!” And after all is said and done and the tree is trimmed, the lights are so so magical.
Love your santa claus man!
