Heather's Dish

Faces of Beauty

It’s Been a Year

How on earth did I forget my own blogiversary?!  I think it’s because I’m a little confused.  You see, when I first started blogging (as in started a blog), it was June 2009.  When I first started blogging about every day things on a consistent basis, it was November 2009.  When I first started blogging at HeathersDish.com, it was sometime in January 2010.  Regardless, it’s been a year.

A full year.  Man, am I getting old!

You guys have watched me go from spilling my guts about disordered eating to finally finding freedom from it, and in there being inspired to start Faces of Beauty to encourage other women to proclaim their own natural beauty.

You’ve watched as I recorded every single morsel of food that went into my mouth to finally rediscovering my love of recipes and sharing them with you.

P.S. I love pecan pie.  You knew that too.

You’ve read about how much I love dark beers, especially microbrews, and how if there’s nothing like that available I’ll still grab a Guinness every time.  Mmmmmm, beer…that’s normal for a morning post, right?

Right?

Hello?

You’ve watched us travel all over the place, going on random surprise trips, taking goofy photos and videos all along the way.  Like this one time in Estes Park when I almost died and went to heaven because they had Blue Bell ice cream.  If you haven’t had Blue Bell ice cream, you haven’t lived.  Yes I know that’s a bold statement, but I’m backing myself 100% on this one.

You’ve watched as I’ve fallen in and out of love, multiple times, with oatmeal.  We’re currently on a break…I just needed some room and time to explore other options.

But most of all you guys have been a huge source of encouragement for me.  You’ve helped me rediscover my love and passion of food, writing, and photography.  You’ve helped me heal.  You’ve put up with the dramatic things I say.  You guys have helped make this blog what it is, and for that I (we) could not be more thankful!

Where is Heather’s Dish going in this next year?  Who knows…I would love to make it more of a career someday, something that exudes creativity and fun and of course food.  But in the meantime, I’m reveling in the fact that over the past year I’ve simply found that it’s all been worth it.  It’s all been fun.  It’s all something I look forward to every day.  It’s something that brings me joy, and for that I could not be more thankful!

Thank you for reading and being the amazing friends you are…even if we’ve never met, I love you all so dearly!

Much love,

Heather

Hooray for a year of Heather’s Dish! I love what you said about it all being worth it…and fun! That’s what is most important. I think a lot of us feel the same way – passionate about blogging, not totally sure where it will take us, but willing to keep moving forward because it’s worth it. xoxo

It seems like you’ve had a wonderful year on the blog… (and yeah, I sort of let mine slip by- I started and stopped a few times before I finally found something I was more passionate about). Congrats! 🙂

Happy blogiversary! I love reading your blog 🙂

I can’t believe you and oatmeal are on a break (again). Have you tried hot oatmeal with brown sugar, milk, chopped pecans, chopped bananas, and chopped prunes (or a handful of raisins)? That is my latest obsession! It’s a treat and worth it 😉

actually i have had something similar to it…it’s the texture of the oats that gets me! sometimes it’s love, sometimes it’s hate…

Is Bluebell not found in other areas? That’s pretty shocking to me! I want to make it to the tour here in Texas.

Aw! Happy blogiversary 🙂 I can see why that would be confusing… but I’ve known you only as Heather’s Dish, so I feel free to celebrate with you 🙂

I love Heather’s Dish — you were one of the first blogs I ever started reading, and definitely an inspiration for me to start my own. You also inspired me to feel free to write about non-food things, even on a food-centric blog. Thanks for breaking the boundaries and being so consistently awesome!
