Last week I mentioned I had some fun news, but in typical blogger fashion I left you guys hanging without much information as to what that means. I’ll try to keep the backstory short today, though, because there’s certainly a lot to share! Food blogging is such a dynamic and ever-changing space, and I stand by my previous statements that there’s room for everyone at the table. We all have something to add to this community, but after 7-1/2 years I’ve felt an itch to stretch into other areas – food (of course), gardening, fitness, maybe some fashion, certainly travel. My desire is to make this space a destination for women who want to live healthier, more grace-filled, beautiful lives – this is the heartbeat of how I want to encourage you. I call it my barefoot lifestyle, the kind that invites others in with vulnerability, humor and the familiarity that only comes when you take your shoes off and dig deep.
You may remember that several years ago I had a blog called Faces of Beauty. It is no longer in existence for the sole fact that I just didn’t have the capacity to continue working on it AND Heather’s Dish. However, my heart behind that passion project is still the same: it is not makeup or products or surgery that make you beautiful. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE YOU ARE YOU. I still stand behind that statement, and while the blog dedicated to just that fell to the wayside my belief in it has not.
I’m a boy mom through-and-through, and I absolutely adore it. I like getting dirty and hands-on in our activities, I love watching my boys’ faces when I surprise them with strength or knowledge they didn’t know I had. I love it so very much – but in the testosterone-drenched place I call my home I’ve come to realize that I just need a little bit of girly in my life. I need a little nail polish from time to time, a little makeup to play with, some time to pamper myself a smidge. One of my favorite things is washing my face at the end of the day and gently applying nourishing night cream and nourishing eye cream, all while smiling at the recent memory of my boys whining about applying lotion.
After several months of searching my heart I finally found a way that I could begin to accomplish all of the things I mentioned above and took the leap to become a Beautycounter consultant. I’ve been using several of the products consistently for several months and love them. I believe in their mission of getting safer products into the hands of everyone. I heard and saw how working for this company has changed and bettered the lives of many. Finally I shoved my pride aside and made the decision to begin a network marketing business of my own, and I cannot imagine a better fit!
Here’s what you can expect from HeatherDisarro.com: a lot of the same deliciously health-conscious recipes coupled with snippets of the other things I’m passionate about. I’ll chat about skincare, how Beautycounter has changed my skin and life for the better, and how you CAN expect great products with transparency. I will share our gardening adventures in more detail, and will continue to show more of our travels and how we manage to do it with two rambunctious (and adorable) kids in tow. I can’t promise to perfection because that’s just not my game – but I can promise we’ll have fun and that we can all leave this space a little more encouraged! I can’t wait to share more with you all soon!
