Beautycounter Consultant FAQs: All you want to know about what it means to be a consultant with Beautycounter, how you can get started, and just how huge the opportunity is. @heathersdish

When I became a Beautycounter consultant on January 1, 2017 it was because after about 3 months of daily research, prayer, and consideration I deemed this a company and a cause that I wanted to throw my name in with. Many times direct sales companies get a bad reputation for one reason or another, and while I knew that Beautycounter claimed to be different I needed to really understand how it was different and why those differences mattered. I knew that I would face some rejection because of preconceived ideas people have about direct sales, and I wanted to make sure that I would be willing to face that rejection with a deeper why than making money.

Over the past 16 months I’ve had tons of conversations with women who were/are considering the Beautycounter business opportunity. It has been my absolute pleasure to introduce them to a company that is not only disrupting and changing a multi-billion industry, but that has the power – with their own drive and passion – to change their lives as well. Because I know how I lurked and researched for so long beforehand I know that there are probably a ton of people out there who are doing the same. I hope this FAQ post (the permanent and up-to-date page is here) can serve as a resource for those of you who are considering this opportunity. As always, please ask questions in the comments if I’ve missed something or you want clarification!

How do I get started as a consultant? It’s actually really simple! You can sign up here and add me as your mentor!

Is there a startup fee? Yes. The startup fee is $98 and includes your personal website, training, marketing materials, and two hero products: our Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion and a sheer lipstick. Then you have the one-time option to purchase a starter kit. These starter kits are not required, but if you can swing the investment I would highly recommend you purchase one. These are highly discounted only at signup and are great for hosting socials, dropping off for friends/family to use, and otherwise sampling.

I don’t like to sell, and I’m not a salesperson. How would I find this fun or rewarding? We aren’t just a skincare and makeup company, we’re a movement. We exist to educate and advocate more than we sell! And my take is this: I just want people to learn about how to make safer choices. The products are so amazing that they will literally sell themselves; it’s just my job to teach others about the need for safer beauty and get a safer option in front of them to try. As for rewarding, when I hear that our products are helping women to have the best skin of their lives, or that a child’s eczema has disappeared, or that someone feels confident in the makeup they’re wearing, or that cleaning up a skincare routine has helped a previously infertile woman conceive – well, it makes every single minute of this work worth it. I don’t know of many other jobs that allow the freedom and flexibility to do work that really matters in pockets of free time while having such massive social impact!

Is there a monthly minimum I have to sell? There is not a monthly minimum; however, you do have sell $1200 every 6 months, with $250 of that being New Volume (people who haven’t purchased from you before). The $1200 (minus the New Volume) does include your own purchases as well, though.

Do people work under you? When you build a team you become a mentor to the women who sign up under you. They do not work for you though, we all work for Beautycounter.

So then how does a Beautycounter team work? We utilize Facebook groups, Voxer, text messaging and conference calls to really band together and support one another. I make myself available to the women on our team for anything – Beautycounter or otherwise – as often as possible to answer questions, give suggestions, and coach them however they need. Consequently they do the same for me. Our team has this amazing, incredible culture of support and encouragement that has made this mission so fun!

Is there a discount for consultants? Yes! Consultants get 25% off retail pricing.

How do you learn about the products if you don’t have them/can’t afford them? We have some spectacular training that starts as soon as you sign up where you can learn all about the products straight from the creators of them. This is another area where our supportive teams help – makeup tutorials, product recommendations, etc. If you’re not sure you just have to ask and we are all ready and willing to jump in and help!

How do you learn about the company as a newbie? Again, our corporate training modules are amazing, but our team is the best resource out there.

How much support do you get from your team? Y’all, if I haven’t hammered it home yet I just have to say that our team is the most supportive out there. These women and men are kind, intelligent, helpful, patient, fun, passionate, and willing to help with anything. You will be supported in every way possible!

What kind of training is available? Our training modules are a combination of video, training calls, FAQ sheets and materials that you can print off and study. Another great thing is that this training is on-going, which means that you won’t be getting only info that was released in 2014. We are all up to date because Beautycounter values making sure you’re set up for success from day one.

How long has the company been around? We just celebrated our 5-year anniversary on March 4, 2018. This is the ground floor to be sure, especially considering our sales are growing at a faster rate than the leading skincare company!

What’s the commission, and how much can I really make? Our commission structure is such that you will always earn at least 25% on every sale, and up to 35%. Beautycounter doesn’t guarantee a certain amount (your success is based on you and your own performance), these are numbers that you should definitely take into consideration.

Are there ranks or bonuses? Yes! The more you help others succeed, the more you succeed.

What is the actual opportunity? This truly is the ground floor of a company that is growing at an incredible rate. Research suggests that only 20% of the population even knows that there are toxins in personal care products, with a much smaller percentage really taking action on changing their products to safer. There are just a little over 25,000 Beautycounter consultants, which means that if you were to jump in now and work your business the way you can, the results would be HUGE.

What is a social? How do you even work this business? This is something that, as you grow and learn more, will continue to evolve. The reason we are a direct sales company is that we are looking to empower an army of women to instate change in a multi-billion dollar industry. The best way to do that is through relationships, and so our company is structured in a way that values person-to-person selling. We do this through socials (parties, if you will, to introduce the products to new customers), one-on-one meetings, and utilizing the power of social media. The reality is that there are a hundred+ different ways you can work your business, and once you hit that sweet spot it’s just magic!

How does Beautycounter benefit bloggers or social media influencers? If you are a blogger or social media influencer Beautycounter is a great option to add to your streams of revenue and gives you the power to leverage your existing followers/fans as a customer base. Before you say you don’t want to sell to them remember that every time you post something you are selling your brand as a go-to for information, recipes, outfit inspiration, encouragement, etc. We are all selling something – so why not use your platform as a way to change the safety of products that billions of people use daily? Plus you get to have control over your own business and use it as an affiliate program of sorts, just by sharing what you are already using and loving.

Well, I’m not a blogger…so can I do this too? HECK YES. While my team does have a good number of bloggers on it, about 60% of the women I work with are career women, stay-at-home moms, and everything in between. There’s no prerequisite of having a certain following or existing online platform; heck, you could have zero online platforms at all and still rock this business!

OK, yes. I want this. I want in. How do I sign up again? I’m so happy to hear that! You can just click here to sign up. You’ll be entering in your information (and it’s good to have a check you can get your routing/bank numbers off of for direct deposit), and you’ll just search for “Heather Disarro” when it asks who you want your mentor to be. After that I should be getting an email telling me that you signed up and I’ll reach out immediately after that to start walking you through everything. And you know what? I can’t wait to see the amazing things you add to our team and am so excited to watch and cheer you on as you make a lasting change in our world!
