I have, for a very long time, been a hater of almost all protein powders. I feel like they’re chalky (they are), overly sweet (blech), and never really leave me feeling better or healthier at all. I’ve long been a fan of adding cottage cheese to smoothies for an added protein kick; it adds a really delicious and creamy cheesecake flavor and texture. I’m still definitely a fan of that!

BUT.

Lately I’ve been really wanting to start enjoying smoothies for meals and not just snacks – both in an attempt to save money and eat healthier. I looked at several different brands, tried quite a few, and (after talking to a good blogging friend) started trying the Vega products.

I feel like I should also add in this post that this is in NO WAY sponsored or an ad. I just really have been enjoying a daily lunchtime smoothie and feel like if you’re in the same place I was? This is definitely one to try!

I wanted something that was easy on the pocketbook, that provided more nutrition than just protein. I wanted something that tasted good, wasn’t super chalky, and that I could find in just about any store or online retailer. I knew that I would want to add some additional flavors, but I wanted to keep the measuring of everything to a minimum.

Long story short, I think I’ve found a new favorite blend that’s going to work great through the spring and summer. I would highly recommend Vega’s chocolate flavored products – and my new favorite smoothie recipe is below!

I just LOVE Vega! I found it a few years ago at Whole Foods and have been a loyal customer ever since. Your smoothie is almost exactly like mine. I’ve never tried the Vega Essentials, but now I’m curious! Usually I’m a Protein & Greens girl.

You’re the reason I tried it! I actually meant to get the Vega One and I think I just grabbed the wrong container – it’s great though! Found this one at Target!
