It’s funny how my own selfishness can sometimes be turned against me in the best way possible, and I will admit here and now that finding Lindsay’s blog has been just that. I had seen Pinch of Yum around the internet many times, but one time happened to click over when she and her husband, Bjork, had posted one of their Traffic and Income reports. Now admittedly blogging and all that comes with it is how I make money and contribute to our family’s financial needs, but at times it can be an all-consuming thing for me; finding the income and traffic report came at one of those times, so I obsessively started following the blog and studying the tips on how to bring in more revenue through blogging.
But then I fell in love. I fell in love with Lindsay’s heart, her recipes, her stories, and her photos from the past year that she has been teaching children in an orphanage in the Philippines. When I learned that all of the income they made from blogging was initially raised as support for their missionary work at the Children’s Shelter of Cebu I had a major heart-to-heart with myself about blogging jealousy, and that moment was one of the first times I really started to appreciate this little space of mine for what it is and what it does.
I’m not proud of the way I started following Lindsay’s blog, but I am so very thankful for the reasons I’ve continued to read. Y’all, I literally pin at least 2-3 of her recipes a week, make them the following week, and love them. If you track nutritional stats they’re usually included at the bottom of every post, which is helpful at times (when I want to eat a whole dish of something). The photos are stunning and Lindsay’s writing ranges from hilariously light-hearted to movingly poignant. I look forward to every post!
Lindsay, you are truly a gem – not just in this blogging world, but in this world in general. Thank you for the incredible recipes and the amazing content that you and Bjork always put out! And that one day when we meet in person? I’m going to give you a great big hug 🙂
