Happy Monday y’all! How was your weekend? Mine was great, but once again it was WAY too short! I seriously can’t believe it’s March at this point…January and February just FLEW by!
For lunch yesterday we went to Panera Bread….one of my favorites! I got the Pick 2 combo with 1/2 of a Mediterranean Sandwich:
These are sooooooooooo good! I love the salty/spicy aspect 🙂 Then Nate got up to grab some coffee and just happened to come back with this bad boy:
I think it’s called a Cobblestone, and it’s basically a pull-apart piece of heaven. It was devoured ravenously between three people!
After lunch I decided to take a nap because I’ve been feeling kind of icky since we got back from the mountains on Saturday. Just really congested and stuff, and I thought it would probably be helpful to get some rest so I can get better. I ended up taking a 2 hour nap, then got up and made some brussels sprouts for dinner:
I also had an unpictured piece of veggie lasagna from Saturday night; it was eaten by the time I realized I hadn’t taken a picture! OOPS! I did laundry (it was stacked up to my hip…I’m 5’10”, you do the math) and did a KILLER arm circuit workout, which I’ve laid out on my HPJ page for February 28. I was a tired and sweaty mess after that one!
So last week I got the goodies in the mail that I won in Janna’s Valentine’s Day contest!
I was just expecting the How Now Brown Cacao, but there were some samples of other great products in there…can’t wait to have a mini spa day and try it all! Of course, being a girl I immediately opened the How Now Brown Cacao and spread it all over my hands and arms. It smells DIVINE! Just like a dreamy chocolate dessert 🙂 Plus, it was really thick and made my skin super soft. Thanks again Janna!
Nate and I finished up some work (we’re almost done!!!) on Chad & Dayle’s wedding photos and then hit the sack. We had to get ready for this week since it’s going to be a long one! Breakfast this morning saw the return of the PB&J Oats:
This was a welcome warm bowl of peanut buttery goodness this morning! I just had a craving (I actually craved it last night but showed restraint) and these were perfect! I also had a cup of tea for my caffeine fix. This morning I woke up and did the yoga and Whittle My Middle parts of my workout, so now all I have left to do is some cardio with my walk this afternoon! Also, I hear it’s supposed to be in the 50’s this week in Colorado…woohoooooo! So excited for some warmer weather 🙂
Do you ever build your own strength training workouts? Or do you use others (like the Fitnessista’s Winter Shape Up)? Or do you utilize a workout DVD? OR do you use a combo of all three? I am a certified personal trainer through NASM and the Cooper Institute, and still have all of my books and workouts that I built for clients, so I like to use those to create strength training workouts for myself. But sometimes it’s really nice to just not have to think about it and use someone else’s workout design (hence me doing Whittle Your Middle 2) or a DVD!

I love that picture of your sandwich. Yum! I usually do my own strength training depending on where I am feeling the most floppy in my body.

None of the above. I need a workout makeover in a bad way.
Hope you’re feeling better!

oh, how I miss Panera Bread. We only have Paradise Bakery, which is definitely not as good. I guess it is for the best because I would be eating way too much of their Broccoli Cheddar Soup.

I really enjoy making my own workouts, but I also like to take the ones that other people make up, or ones that I find in magazines (I really like the Men’s Health workouts….I know, I’m a girl but those workouts always seem to be more challenging for me). I LOVE having workout DVD’s to use on rainy or snowy days because they are usually a lot more fun so a dreary day gets better!

I had a trainer for a while so when I lift weights, I just do what she taught me to do. I also do dvd’s from time to time.

I totally get you girl! I make workouts for myself all the time, but sometimes it is nice to have someone else do them for you. I have used online trainers in the past when competing, and it is such a relief!

I didn’t know you were a certified trainer!I’ve been doing the Fitnessista’s “Intro to Iron Pumping” very diligently. I’m seeing AWESOME results too- my arms are just so solid. I need to take some pics soon, even John noticed it! As you know, I’m doing that WMM2 too… omggg this is going to show results, I can tell.
Katie @ Health for the Whole Self says
I do a combination of all three! I have a few plans that I designed, and I’ve also used those created by others. (I love nhershoe’s Bootcamp workouts!) But I also like to use DVDs – Jackie Warner is my favorite!

I didn’t know you were so tall! I’m 5’10 too! Woo hoo for tall girls! 🙂
Sorry you’re not feeling so great– hope you get better soon, girl!

I got to Body Pump or I get my husband to write me a program!

I generally make my own workouts – I worked out with trainers intermittently for 7 years so I have enough routines to mix and match. Right now I’m doing New Rules of Lifting for Women and I love it. It’s a no-frills approach to weight lifting, which is how I like it.
