Twix Brownies

Candy bars.  I’m a bit obsessed lately, what with the Peanut Butter Snickers Cookie Bars, the Reese’s ice cream in my freezer, and now these Twix brownies.

It’s an obsession I can live with!

Besides the obvious fact that there’s candy bars in the middle of a luscious brownie, I think we all know that the best part of these is sneaking the little bits of chopped candy bar that happen to “stray” away from the rest of the pack.

Survival of the fittest in my kitchen!

Would you just look at the picture below though?  I mean really – who could say no to that bowl ‘o’ goodness right there?  I think we’re all adults here and can admit that, if left alone long enough with that bowl, it would have several finger dips in it.  If there was any left at all!

So, how good were these?  Good enough that I didn’t even wait til they cooled to dig in, leaving a spoon as the best serving utensil.  There’s nothing like eating fresh brownies spoon-to-mouth from the oven.

Boy howdy.

TWIX BROWNIES

  • 1 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup + 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 Twix candy bars, chopped

Preheat oven to 350.  In a large bowl, cream together the butter, oil, and sugar.  Add the eggs and mix well.  Add the dry ingredients, and mix until just combined.  Fold in the chocolate chips and Twix pieces.  Spread into the bottom of an 8×8 baking dish and bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Eat while hot.  Burn your mouth (ok, not really).  Totally worth it!

Let’s just say candy explosion doesn’t begin to describe it!

Oh my gawd you just created a monster. Twix are my favorite candy of all time because they’re so crunchy!! I love brownies because they’re so gooey and moist. Now my mouth is watering because just thinking of the wonderful combo of both crunchy and gooey is just setting me in a tizzy!

I am making these brownies right now. I am wondering what the 1 tsp of vanilla is for? You have it in the ingredient list but not in the directions??

I think the only thing that would make that better would be as soon as they’re out of the oven, top with ice cream!! :DD

I made these with my sister tonight and for some reason the batter was so thick and dry! We made two batches and they were both the same… the second batch is in the oven now, we’ll see how they turn out! Don’t think they will cook all the way through though! Any suggestions on what we did wrong??

interesting…i would say that maybe not adding the extra 3 Tbsp of flour might be the best bet then. sometimes ingredients will vary (i.e. they can be drier at higher altitudes where i live), so if it’s too dry then eliminate some of the dry ingredients or increase the wet ingredients slightly.

      i hope that helps!

Twix are my all time favorite candy bar. When I was a kid my parents sent me to summer camp every year. It was a 5 week sleep away camp and I loved every minute of it. Once a week we were allowed to go to the camp store and buy a candy bar. Every single week I chose a Twix. It got to the point where no one would even ask me what I wanted…Twix it was. I am going to have to make these brownies if nothing else than to bring back some childhood memories in a completely decadent and over the top kind of way! 🙂

Just popping in from the place moms flock to on ra Just popping in from the place moms flock to on rainy days just to get out of the dang house: the aisles of Target. 😂 Not a lot to say, but I’m going to leave you with 3 affirmations I want you to repeat to yourself today:

❤️ I AM STRONG
❤️ I AM CAPABLE
❤️ I AM ENOUGH

BECAUSE YOU ARE. Have a wonderful day friends!

- 1 cup water
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- 1 cup frozen kale or spinach

- 1 serving collagen peptides (I use 2 scoops of @bulletproof brand; some brands just have one big scoop)
- 1 scoop greens powder (I used @amazinggrass)

🥗 FAST FOOD! Real real: I hate when people are 🥗 FAST FOOD!

Real real: I hate when people are all, “you can cook food in the same time it takes to grab takeout.” That is not always true, and sometimes it’s just about not wanting to try. Effort is hard, amen?!

Today I’m thankful to have had the energy and want-to to cook something a little healthier and save a little money. That’s not always the case, but today it was and I’ll count it as a win!

In the bowl: 3/4 cup black beans, 1/4 cup corn, 2 big handfuls of spinach, and two eggs. Seasoned it all with salt, pepper, garlic and smoked paprika!

Any wins y’all feel like sharing today? Let’s hear it and celebrate!

- 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
- 2 tablespoons brewed coffee (optional)*
- 2 tablespoons powdered peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
- 1 serving unflavored collagen peptides
- Sweetener of choice
- 1 tablespoon chocolate chips

Heat the oats, water, milk and coffee in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until thickened to your liking (although keep in kind the flax seeds and cooling will thicken it even further). Remove from the heat and stir in the remaining ingredients except the chocolate chips; I like to use a whisk to make sure the collagen doesn’t clump. Pour in a bowl, sprinkle with the chocolate chips and enjoy!

*I love to add a little coffee to mine to help enhance the chocolate flavor, but you do you!
And sometimes this is what it means to “work fro And sometimes this is what it means to “work from home.” 😂
Mentioned this yesterday in the ol’ stories, but Mentioned this yesterday in the ol’ stories, but thought it was worth sharing here too. When it comes to how I plan out meals, I look for 3 things:

🥗Whole foods. Not like the store (that’s called Whole Paycheck, right?), but meaning foods that haven’t been minimally processed. Fresh veggies, lean protein sources, whole grains, etc. I do have a few processed things on hand (protein bars) just in case I’m in a place where I need something SUPER quick, but that’s it.

🥗High fiber. There are so many reasons we should be getting in plenty of fiber (Google is your friend here guys), but if I’m being honest I just feel better when I’m getting plenty of it. Leaner, more regular, more satiated. The list goes on! Besides the obvious fresh produce, I also eat plenty of legumes, whole grains (rolled oats, farro, quinoa - even though it’s a seed), flax and chia seeds.

🥗Hit my protein goals. Again, an essential nutrient. I have composition goals, and for my muscles to recover from my hard workouts I have to make sure I’m getting in enough protein. For me this means chicken, fish, and the occasional beef or pork.
