Clearly I’m a smoothie fan, right? I mean for someone to do an entire series on them in a month – kind of a big deal. And truth be told I love every recipe I’m sharing with you guys too. Totally and completely love them! And what’s not to love? A sweet (literally) way to get in extra fruit and veggies? I’ll take it every time!
That being said, I definitely have my favorites and this is one of them. Every day when Wes naps I do my workouts, and every day after he wakes up I always indulge in a protein smoothie using cottage cheese. I mentioned it before, but I am just not a fan of protein powder so I try to bump up the protein content in other ways whenever I can. My favorite at the moment is using cottage cheese because it adds such a great creamy texture too!
P.S. Did I ever tell you guys that I never tried mango until I was 22 years old? True story – the fiance of one of my college roommates was at our place making her a fruit salad and was slicing a mango. I asked him what it was and he acted like I had just sprouted eight horns across my forehead. Thankfully once he got past the shock he also gave me a few bites of it and I’ve been in love ever since!
This smoothie combines some of the very basic ingredients I always have on hand in my freezer for a really refreshing and super delicious smoothie that’s great after a workout or in lieu of dessert. As always, I did blend this up for some pretty pictures and then added some frozen spinach – about 2 cups – afterwards. Gotta get those greens y’all!
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk of choice (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
- 1 small frozen banana (I like to slice mine prior to freezing)
- 1/3 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese
- honey or stevia to taste
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
- Enjoy!

I love tropical anything! And I had never had mango until a few years ago (and I am almost 44!). I add frozen pineapple when I use frozen mango (and a little coconut extract) in my smoothiesl – makes you forget that it was really 30 degrees last night IN APRIL!!! So glad for 70 degrees tomorrow!

Such a classic, but it’s a smoothie I never tire of!

I just tried frozen mango in my smoothie for the first time last week! What was I waiting on? It was SO good! And I like how frozen fruits give it a thicker texture 🙂

I’m with you and don’t love protein powder. Sometimes greek yogurt has such a strong taste in a smoothie, though. I’m definitely going to try one with cottage cheese!
