One of my first memories of spending time in Little Rock was over 9 years ago, before we were even engaged to be married. It was my first time meeting Nate’s extended family AND my first time being in Arkansas at all. I had no idea what to expect, but found myself loving every moment of that trip.
Back then we took a trip to the Old Mill to see the historic spot, but also to have some pictures taken outside of it. Having never seen Gone with the Wind (I KNOW, I’m practically un-American) I didn’t realize that it was such a historic piece of cinematic memorabilia. Sometimes you just see something pretty and that’s as deep as the appreciation goes, amen?
However it’s turned into more than just a pretty spot for me, but rather is a place that houses a ton of memories. We’ve had photos taken there, but it’s also just been a place to go and explore and take in the beauty of the area. It’s a little oasis in the middle of the city, and I’ve never been when it hasn’t been absolutely stunning.
If you’re ever in the Little Rock area, you have to take some time out to go to North Little Rock and visit. It’s free and fun, scenic and at the very least a great place to get some family photos!
But for me it will always be a reminder of the time I started to fall in love with this state, even unawares, almost a decade ago!

One of my favorite places. I grew up in the area. We had many photos taken there including photos of our high school drill team in 1978. Wow that was a long time ago. Great place to visit.

I didn’t realize that that’s where Old Mill was at, from seeing the movie. I learn something new everyday! It’s absolutely gorgeous and looks peaceful.
