Well hi guys! Guess I haven’t been around for an update recently, have I? Remember that whole “5 things I learned from a power outage” post from last week? Yeah. It went out again. Apparently we moved from Colorado only to experience snow PLUS ice and freezing rain and power outages 😉
Christmas day I came down with a full-blown cold (still not fun), the power went out, we could only eat the pot roast I made (paleo?) since it had literally JUST finished cooking, we slept in the living room in front of the fireplace (which doesn’t actually put out much heat as it turns out), and then woke up on the 26th to a house at less than 50 degrees. Kinda nuts.
BUT I don’t want to focus on those things because what we got in turn was to spend a lot of time with both of our families together at Nate’s grandmother’s house. We got fun and laughter, great conversation, delicious food, light, and a warm place to lay our heads. We got to watch grandparents doting on our sweet little man, and we watched him develop even more with some hands-and-knees crawling and a few very daring attempts at walking.
We got to experience what a joy it is to be around family in a big way, and so for that I am very thankful. Sooooooooo…in light of the events of the past few days, I’m going to go ahead and extend myself a little grace to not post some of the yummy recipes I have in the vault for you guys. Today I’m going to focus on just resting to get this cold out of my head, playing with Weston and all of his fun new presents, and maybe just get my life back together a little bit.
This was a Christmas for the books you guys – I hope it was amazing for y’all as well!
Sweet post…feel better, Heather! Happy New Year to you, Nate and your precious Weston!
