Not a Colorful Start

Yet again I am pining away for the beautiful and colorful days of spring and summer!  Why, oh why, does winter have to linger on for sooooooo long?  This morning I woke up to it snowing, but this is how much we got:

Not that I’m complaining, you see.  I’m ready for the summer, so after snowing (very lightly) for about an hour, the sun came out.  WOOHOO!!!  Bunker was so excited that he grabbed his favorite stick and started knawing on it!

Gosh, I love that dog!

So, when I woke up this morning I did some yoga and got ready for work.  I didn’t do weights at all because I slept in too late (oops!), but I figure if my body feels up to it tonight I might do them then.  It certainly doesn’t hurt to give yourself a rest day to let your muscles heal!  I decided that absolutely nothing in our house sounded good to eat, so we headed to Starbies (as said by Naomi – totally made me giggle!) and I got the Turkey Bacon sandwich thingy and a cup of coffee:

Neither one of these was particularly colorful either.  I’m not off to a great start with the whole “eating fruits & veggies” thing today, but I figure I’ll make up for it later…hopefully!

Last night I made Banana Cake using this recipe (which was so easy it was almost sinful).  While it was baking, I was brainstorming what I should use for icing.  We didn’t have enough butter or powdered sugar to do anything traditional, so I was having a little trouble.  Then it dawned on me:  I’ve been wanting to try Jessica’s Homemade Chocolate Fudge Sauce for a looooooooooooooong time.  I decided to top the cake with that!  Bananas and chocolate go together, right? 🙂

And so I did just that.  I poured it all over that cake while they were both still hot, which allowed the chocolate sauce to seep into any little cracks/holes in the cake.  I haven’t had this many compliments on my weekly work treats in a long time!

Thanks for the amazing recipe Jessica!

I’m going to see Leeann tonight for broken-knee healing time, which I’m so excited about!  I really like the ultrasound stuff…even though I can’t feel it, it’s still really cool!  Not sure what lunch will be since I forgot to bring leftovers again (shocker), but maybe we’ll play the $10 game again?

What’s your favorite recipe you’ve found in the blogging world lately?  Feel free to leave the links on here to share with everyone!

Today represents CO weather so well: snow in the morning (light dusting would be more accurate), sunny by 11:00am, windy in the afternoon but still sunny…………

    The cake looks fantastic!!!

I am craving Spring, too! I am so sick of the cold, dark, rain!
Lately I’ve been putting cottage cheese in my oats after seeing it on a lot of blogs. I love it; it makes the oats so creamy!

Favorite recipe? Hmmm, I’m not good at following recipes-I use them for inspiration. I think probably Ang’s spelt burgers which inspired my beet burgers 🙂
