Hello hello! How’s everyone this morning? I really appreciated y’alls comments on yesterday’s post about fitting in exercise…I’m still struggling with it, but I’m really trying to figure out what the reason is behind me not being happy with myself. Regardless, I’m so thankful to have such a strong and supportive community of blends (blog friends) out there 🙂
Yesterday for treat day at work I made some cheesecake swirl brownies (and yes they were amazing!)
But tried to start off the day right with 1/2 cup of plain yogurt and a crumbled Mama Pea KIND bar on top!
And then work got incredibly busy and we didn’t have any substantial food at the office, so I had a “lunch” of a 100-calorie popcorn:
I was trying to rush around because we were leaving early to go to…ESTES PARK! We had some friends from our old church, Watermark Dallas, in for a family camp, so we went up to hang out with them for the evening. We wanted to get into town early though…every street in Estes is one lane, and during “rush hour” it gets pretty insane. We parked and decided to eat at Dunraven Downtown! Basically a VERY small Italian restaurant…and SOOOOOO good. We started off with salads and creamy garlic dressing (reminds me of my Papa):
I finished the ENTIRE THING! I was very hungry apparently. It was actually just the right amount to make me feel satisfied but not stuffed…but then we decided we couldn’t live without some…
For some reason they sell BlueBell at a little shop in Estes Park…but other than that we can’t find it anywhere north of Texas! Rumor has it the owner is from Texas and just decided he couldn’t live without BlueBell, so once or twice a year he drives all the way down to South Texas with a massive refrigerated truck just to pick it up. And I am OHSOGLAD he does! We found this car thingy (technical term):
And Nate and I split a cone with homemade vanilla and cookies ‘n’ cream (my favorites!)
Then there’s me…not so great of a model. I was told to laugh at Amy’s joke, but I decided to be a weirdo instead…
On the way up to the YMCA camp we made some new friends! This guy was full of life…
Marriage Ref Friday
Today’s questions is VERY IMPORTANT: do you tuck the sheets in when making the bed, or do you just leave them loose and hanging? Remember, your answer could help save a marriage 🙂
HAPPY FRIDAY Y’ALL!
Erin says
Heather-
What part of Dallas did you live in? I just moved from Dallas (lived there for 4 years) about a year ago and I miss Blue Bell for sure:-)
I’m for tucking the sheets in! It makes the bed look more orderly and neat and if I’m going to go to the trouble of making it, I figure I might as well do it nicely.
Heather says
hey there! We lived in the Plano/Richardson area of Dallas for about 2 years or so before we decided to move to Colorado…there are times I miss it, but then all I have to do is step outside and look at the mountains 🙂
Kailey@MissionHealthy says
hahah I love the picture of you “laughing” Made me chuckle:) But my sheets are tucked in! I am a restless sleeper so they end up getting pulled out but tucked in sheets are the best!

first time to pop over to your blog and i find pics of estes park! a loooong time ago, i was a camp counselor for a summer at meadow mountain ranch. awww, estes looks just the same! 🙂 also, i tuck in the sheets, but with no real vengeance.

That brownie creation looks sooo rich and delicious! I couldn’t make it or I would eat it all up!
Teri [a foodie stays fit] says
baaaahahahaha! That picture of you cracks me up.
My huz and I have always wanted to go to Estes Park but we never made it before we moved away from the West. 🙁
I tuck the sheets in on the end, but leave them loose on the sides. 🙂
Mary says
Great pics and posts Heather! Estes Park is beautiful! I have been hiking up there in the summer.
Bed sheets…I always make the bed and I tuck my side in at the bottom and leave my husband’s side untucked. He likes the “roominess” at night to move his feet, but if I leave my side untucked, then the sheets get all moved to one side or the other in the night. I found if I tucked my side in, in the morning the sheets stay pretty much in the same spot which also makes it easy to make.
Before I was married, I always tucked the sheets in at the bottom because I came from a military father who made us have perfect “hospital corners” and now I’m a product of that. 🙂 Happy bed-making!
sophia says
lol, Heather! Loved your question..the most random thing ever, but oh, the controversy! I’m a non-tucker. I can’t be bothered! ;-p
Love the pictures…and man, ice-cream after a nice Italian meal…what is better than that?
Meg says
I liked the picture of you! Looks like something goofy I would do too… I rarely make the bed, but when I do, I definitely tuck the ends, and my hubby pulls them right out as soon as he gets in bed so he can stick his feet out. Bless his heart. 😉
rebecca says
oh my gosh!!!! i was just cracking up at your “to the left, to the left”, etc. captions!!!! hilarious!
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] says
Did you make Mama’s Kind Bars too? Aren’t they the best?
Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Lasagna + ice cream = my favorites! YUMMM
I am VERY OCD about tucking the sheets in. I don’t like when they’re loose and fall off, get jumbled in the blankets, etc. My husband is a messy sleeper, so I have to tuck them extra tight, lol.

sorry about your RUSHED lunch- but you made up for it with a baller dinner!

Those brownies look amazing! Can you post the recipe? And we always tuck
rosebelle says
Tucked in! Always! It just looks unmade and sloppy if the sheets are hanging out.
Tiffany says
We are half and half! I tuck mine and leave my husbands untucked, just the way he likes it!
Miranda says
Loose! the dogs like to get in and out of the covers and they can’t when they are tucked in!
Kara @ MyWellnest says
Always tucked!!!!!! (and we both agree)
Jacqueline says
I tuck them in only because it looks nice, but I kick them out the minute I get into bed. 🙂
midgetkeeper says
You must tuck the sheets!
lisasfoods says
I tuck the sheets in – we both like the bed made that way (figured out that one a while back).
That breakfast looks so good. I need to start tucking into some of the bars I have at home to eat with yogurt for breakfast, or a snack. Yum yum.
Katie @ Health for the Whole Self says
I could go either way, but my husband is a stickler about tucking, so I’ll vote tuck!
Mama Pea says
I also had to add that you MUST tuck. Pea Daddy doesn’t tuck and it drives me batty. I wake up with the bottom of the sheet wrapped around my neck like a noose. Seriously, dude, it takes two seconds. TUCK!!!!
Beth @ fatbustermack says
loose and hanging (when we make the bed) I hate feeling trapped in the sheets!
Christie {Honoring Health} says
Well, I never make the bed, my husband does but if I were, no tucking as long as the quilt hides it 😀
Lindsay says
Loose and hangin’ is the way I roll!
That lasagna looks like magic. My goodness…I’m glad you enjoyed every bite! It reminds me that I really need to make lasagna soon….
The pics of that deer are fanastic as well. Deer can be such sassy creatures!
Sarah from 20somethingcupcakes says
That looked like the perfect meal! Good stuff. And I don’t tuck, because we have a platform bed and you really can’t, but the comforter does cover so it’s no biggie! Hope you have a great weekend! xxSAS
Kelly says
TUCK! Definitely TUCK!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
Mine MUST be tucked in. My husband HATES it! So we have my half tucked in, and his half untucked. So annoying.
Mama Pea says
Is it wrong for me to think your husband is hunky? Because I do. I think it is more wrong for me to use the word “hunky.” What is this 1986?
LeeAnn says
Tucked in for SURE!
Cynthia says
Ooops, sorry for the double post.
Cynthia says
I tuck them, but my husband insists on pulling them out!! UGH, I hate when they fall off and touch the floor, he said he feels restricted when they are tucked. So I tuck his side really tight when I make the bed…..mwahahaha!! 😉

I tuck them…my husband pulls them out! I hate it when they fall off the bed! I have been married for 15 years and this is still on going with us!
Heather says
ever notice how many Heathers there are in the health bloggin’ world! We’re takin’ ovah! 😉
Ok-sheets….we’re not too picky…..we tuck in the top sheet at the foot of the bed and a little bit on the sides, but that’s it.
