Me Against the Christmas Tree

Beautiful and amazing Ashley is on Faces of Beauty today!

First things first I feel the need to get this off my chest:  I’m addicted to caffeine.  I’m the reason Starbucks has massive sizes for coffee, I’m the reason the vending machine runs out of Diet Coke in the breakroom when I need a quick afternoon fix.  I’m the reason our coffee machine at home is quickly wearing down.  It’s me.

It’s all me.

So lately I’ve decided that it would be a good idea to break myself of this horrible habit by stopping cold turkey.  Genius?  Probably not.  Helpful in the long run?  Yes.  And since yesterday was my first day of being almost caffeine free (when I say cold turkey I mean I had a little bit and nothing else the rest of the day) I also had a massive headache the likes of which made me want to not put up the Christmas tree.

I know, I know.  BUT the good news is that I’m married to a man who said it’s OK to ween myself off of caffeine and it’s OK to take some Excedrin to do so.  And honey let’s put up the Christmas tree, you’ll regret it if you don’t.  And sweetie I’m making chocolate sauce for ice cream and will share it with you.  Really.  He said all of those things.  I am a lucky woman 🙂

So put up the Christmas tree we did.

I even went so far as to put lights on the mantle.  That’s right, it’s OK…you can call me an overachiever!

I’m not going to show a ton of ornaments just yet because we have a lot of really fun ones that are very meaningful, but I WILL show my Texas Tech pride (even though this is Nate’s…I’m younger…just let that be known…)!

My favorite ornaments though are the different glass ones that you can find just about anywhere.  These are gorgeous because they let the light shine through them…

And what girl doesn’t love sparkles?

Christmas trees are one of my favorite things in the world…and headache or not I’m so glad we put ours up last night to the tune of Home Alone last night!

Now could someone beer me a cup of coffee???

Love the tree! Nate was right, you can wean yourself off and also take relief for the headache. After all, it is the season of love, now that should be reason enough.
Best thoughts for success but don’t push it. Headaches are what I get too if I don’t get my fix of java!
Love the star too. It is awesome!

Good luck on the no coffee! Your tree looks pretty. Oh and I may have dabbled in some Home Alone II this weekend while searching for Christmas movies on TV…

Have you heard of the Trenti? That’s outta control.

Sorry you are having withdrawals, hang in there. Excedrin is the jam, it’s my hangover remedy too.

Beautiful tree- love the college shout out!

I’m a coffee person too, but after I’ve had my 2 cups in the morning, I’m usually okay for the rest of the day. It’s only if I’m REALLY tired, that I need to have more in the afternoon!

I have been debating the coffee issue with myself for some time. Should I cut down? Should I stop? Should I continue to rely on it like I do? Really, what’s so wrong with being addicted to something so good?

Anyway, I have quit in the past. I feel for you. It will get better in a couple of days.

Pretty tree! I’ve had those same caffeine headaches and I know you can do it. Home Alone makes everything better during the holidays. I could watch it everyday. (And maybe I will.)

I went cold turkey and just had massive headaches for 4 or 5 days.
Then I hopped back off the wagon because I decided I need coffee in my life and I love it too much. Quitting for awhile was very helpful though, because I don’t drink nearly as much as I used to.
    Good luck!

Boo for caffeine induced headaches! I switched from the heavy caffeine in Diet Cokes to green tea, which was difficult, but doable. You can do it!

Home Alone is hands down my favorite holiday movie. Second place goes to elf. I watch them both once a week AT LEAST until christmas 🙂 They both make me laugh!

And the see-through ornaments are my favorite!

So you let it slip–what you really want is a beer! 🙂

I’m addicted like that to sugar. I went off of it for a week–cold turkey–and those headaches were killer!

    Beautiful tree!!!

Ugh– no caffeine. I try to do that about three or four days every month. I just like knowing that I CAN go without…but then of course, after a few days, I always hop right back on board the caffeine train!

I hate caffeine headaches! They happen for me on the weekends- when my usual routine is broken. I tried getting off the coffee… but I don’t think it’ll happen any time soon…

Ha, girl this is a brave task to take on! A little excedrin to get through the Christmas decorating….you probably aren’t the first 😉

I went Cold Turkey with Diet soda sometime last Spring and have only had a sip a few times. Now it tastes Way over-carbonated and bubbly – can’t say I miss it!

Good luck! I never drink coffee because 1. I don’t like the taste (unless loaded with garbage) and 2. I’m afraid I’d get ADDICTED!!

Love the ornaments! And caffeine headaches are the worst. It’s amazing what limiting it will do when you’re used to it.
