Mango Sweet and Sour Mix for Margaritas

Alrighty y’all, let’s talk margaritas shall we?

Besides the obvious, “I love margaritas, they’re the token drink of summer, best way to ingest tequila, and there’s a million different ways to make the best one” remarks I could make, I just need you to know this:  I love me a good margarita.  I don’t have them often because, let’s be honest, it’s a little too easy to drink more than one ifyougetmydrift.

For those of you who don’tgetmydrift I’m saying it means I get tipsy super easily on them.  Which translates to drinking waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much sugar and alcohol and eating waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much party food.

But the way I see it is there’s nothing wrong with enjoying one really good and flavorful marg every now and then, especially when I’m sharing said marg with my handsome husband and a couch-movie date night.  There are a ton of ways to make a really good homemade sweet and sour mix (this is my favorite, but I sub stevia in for the sugar), but let me tell you this:  mango nectar will take your marg to the next level.  Don’t trust me?  Try it!  It’s a super simple way to sweeten and flavor a good margarita and makes just enough to have 1 (maybe two) to share.

So let’s kick off Labor Day weekend early with a Mangorita, mmmmmmmk?  Cheers!

MANGORITAS

  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1 11.3-ounce can mango nectar (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • stevia to sweeten (if you like)
  • tequila

So here’s the joy of making margaritas:  there’s really no recipe.  Whisk the lime juice, mango nectar, water and stevia (if using) together until blended.  Chill if you have time.  Add a bunch of ice to a glass, pour in a shot (or two) of your favorite tequila, and top it off with the mango sweet and sour.  Stir to combine and enjoy!

Arriba!

If only I hadn’t drank so many margaritas that one time….ugh. Still, this looks delish simply because I’m a lover of anything mango.

You have this margarita lover’s attention! What a great thing to have on hand for one of my summer must-have cocktails. Love the addition of mango nectar, too!
