And people wonder why I take my lunch break at 3.  My reason, dear friends, is that it makes the work day go by infinitely faster!  I decided to take my walk at 11:30 today because there’s a storm with rain and potential snow blowing in right now, and I wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous sunny weather beforehand.  The walk was great!  I hadn’t planned on doing that, so I snacked on a tiny chocolate chip cookie while I headed out:

Yes, you read that correctly.  I ate a chocolate chip cookie while I worked out.  That’s just how I roll! When I got back I made lunch:

Baby carrots and 1 Tbsp almond butter (not pictured), about a cup of leftover risotto, and a sandwich thin with a slice of provolone and a Morningstar Farms Tomato/Basil patty.  This was a great lunch, except my risotto got cold on me while I snapped away!  A couple hours after lunch I got bored and, rather than DO something I went and got a snack bag of Cheetos:

Sigh.  The good news is the bag was tiny and only half full, but I know I shouldn’t have eaten them.  The good news is I shouldn’t be craving Cheetos for a while though!  I’m over it now and thinking about what to make for dinner…I’m thinking another yam like I had last night, a leftover black bean burger (don’t worry, it’s been frozen), and maybe an egg?  All I know is I want some guacamole and pita chips STAT!

So, I really liked this question from Caitlin’s post last night, so I thought I’d steal it:  If you could have any other name, what would it be? I think I would choose Marin or Sophia…no real reason why, other than I really like those names!

I used to wish I was named “Abby”, but now I’d be happy with anything unique, or something that can be shortened easily to a nickname. Heather doesn’t really lean towards good nicknames 😉

I’m a late lunch girl and I prefer it as well – the day definitely speeds by!

For some crazy reason I love the name Coburn for a girl. I met someone once with that name and her personality matched it exactly. It’s so different but it just worked! For myself, I am a pretty big fan of my name, I just wish there weren’t so many variations – it never gets spelled right!!

My parents almost named me Samantha. I always wondered what it would have been like to be called “Sam” my whole life – but I’m pretty attached to “Michele” so I don’t think I’d trade it for a different name. 😀

lol– I always give different names at Starbucks, just because I like the thought of having another name. I like too many to choose just one!

When I take lunch, I try to take it later in the day to not break up my productive streak and to make the day go by faster, but 3 is super late!

I actually really like my name – Elizabeth. It’s not an unusual or hard to pronounce name, but I rarely meet anyone else with the same name. My middle name is Kristine and my parents called me Kristy for the first 8 years of my life until I insisted on going by my first name, so in a way, I kind of picked my name afterall. Maybe that’s why I like it. 😉

I have always loved my name and I can’t imagine going by anything else. Although, I went through the world’s biggest Little Mermaid phase when I was little and insisted that everyone call me Ariel for about a week.

When I was younger I hated my name. It was different, and I wanted to have a common name like everyone else. Now I love my name for its uniqueness 🙂

I’ve always liked my first name and don’t think I would like to be called anything else. When I was a teenager, though, I always thought I was more of a Cindy. Not sure why.

Morgan! I tried to change my name three years ago–meaning, change my email, voicemail, myspace (when it was cool, of course), introductions, etc. Everyone refused to call me Morgan no matter how much I insisted, except my dad. He still calls me that. Yep, I’m a tool.

Just two gals who crushed a 50 minute run today! Just two gals who crushed a 50 minute run today!

As we move into goal setting for the new year, may I suggest starting with your physical health? Not to fit the bikini body mold that society normalizes, but to actually BE as healthy as possible. When everything hit the fan for me this year I dug into two things that have been integral to creating positive growth and a healthier mindset:

1️⃣ my relationship with God
2️⃣ my physical health

What that’s looked like for me on the health front: holding fast to my commitment to whole food nutrition, grace for the days when I choose otherwise, pushing myself to lift heavier in workouts, and taking up running again.

What’s happened as a result? When I push myself physically, when I choose to practice discipline to do what I know is best for my body, it makes it infinitely easier to choose that same healthy discipline in every other area of life. You want to dominate your goals? Start with your health!
Remember when I blogged about food? 😂 Gosh the Remember when I blogged about food? 😂 Gosh the past few months have been nuts. I’m still over here figuring out how to eat well without sacrificing my life in the kitchen, and this is a bowl I couldn’t NOT share with y’all. The best thing is that everything is almost always on hand in my fridge, it’s packed with nutrition, and tastes AMAZING!

In the bowl:
-rice mixed with Trader Joe’s Zhoug sauce
-broiled shredded Brussels sprouts
-chickpeas
-baby arugula
-grilled chicken breast
-Romesco sauce (from Trader Joe’s but I usually make my own)
-a little tzaziki sauce

This meal has been on repeat all week, only changing the rice for riced cauliflower and omitting the chickpeas on low carb days. YUM! I find that if I have a variety of roasted veggies, grilled chicken, and a few different sauces on hand I can almost always come up with a great bowl for almost any meal!
It’s a beautiful day for Small Business Saturday It’s a beautiful day for Small Business Saturday y’all! Almost 4 years ago I took a leap of faith and said yes to this job in an effort to create another stream of revenue. I had NO CLUE that it would change my life for the better in almost every way, that it would reignite my passion for health and community, that it would provide in so many beautiful ways. But it has, and I am so thankful to all of you who have trusted me and supported me along the way.

When you shop with a small business you are literally a hero in their eyes, validating and supporting and protecting them. You guys are my heroes, and I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your day: 3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your day:

1️⃣ SMILE! Even if you don’t feel like it, smiling (even forcing it to the point of feeling weird) has actually been scientifically proven to improve mood, lower stress, and boost your immune system. I actually recommend doing it awkwardly around other people because it’ll make them smile too 😉

2️⃣ GRATITUDE! Right now, before you talk yourself out of it, say or write 3 things you’re thankful for. Big, small, or in between. In this moment I’m going to say sticky notes, my Le Creuset Dutch Oven, and the Hamilton soundtrack. BOOM!

3️⃣MOVE! Get up off your tush, right now, and move your body. Walk around your house, do some jumping jacks, lock yourself in the bathroom and do a little dance, whatever. This isn’t about looking cool, it’s about giving yourself a better day.

Things are hard, ambiguity and uncertainty isn’t fun, but we can control ONE THING: ourselves. Praying that you choose to gift yourself a little bit of happiness today!

Now, tell me below, what’s one thing you’re thankful for RIGHT NOW?
