This last hurrah summer fun post is sponsored by Wild River Country. All opinions are my own.
I grew up in a small(ish) town in West Texas where the one water park opened and closed with the school year. While I realize this is probably pretty normal almost everywhere you go, I remember feeling so sad that one of my favorite places couldn’t be enjoyed in the end-of-summer September heat. Come Labor Day we’d be sweating it out, same as we did in July and August, with nowhere to go. No last hurrah summer fun for us!
You can imagine my excitement when we discovered that while our family’s favorite summer fun spot, Wild River Country, is still open even with school starting soon! Granted the hours are a bit abbreviated, but I truly can’t imagine a better way to have some last hurrah summer fun with my boys. It’s almost the best of both worlds – school during the week for fun, learning and socialization, then Wild River Country on the weekends to celebrate and create those late summer memories together!
Every time we’ve gone to Wild River Country this summer my boys have gotten braver and braver. Those slides and activities that used to be intimidating are all fair game now, and it has been so exciting to see how they’ve decided to rise to the challenge of more thrilling rides as the summer has gone on.
It’s been a summer filled with water, slides, walk-racing from one attraction to another (because let’s face it, the lifeguards are too on top of it to let anyone run!), and slathering sunscreen on for more fun in the sun. We’ve downed pizza, hamburgers, nachos, chicken tenders, and pretzels. I can’t imagine a better way to have one (or 5!) last hurrah of summer fun than celebrating the end of the season at Wild River Country with my boys!
While school may be starting, you can always check what days Wild River Country is open with their handy calendar. Weekends for the next 4 weeks, and a great long weekend for Labor Day means more fun is to be had before hanging up your swimsuit for the winter! May you have the best last hurrah summer fun with your people – I think you know where you’ll find me with mine!
Isn’t it wonderful that Wild River Country is open on the weekends until Labor Day? I know so many kids will be looking forward to the weekend.
Exactly! I know my boys are!
