Kauai: Day 2 – Bubba’s

If you’ve been reading The Dish for a while now you know that one of my favorite things to watch on TV is Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  There’s just something about that little slice of Americana where people cook not only from their hearts, but from what they have known culturally as well.  I love the personality and the love and the use of great ingredients to make something completely memorable.

That being said, Bubba’s Burgers is what a burger place should be.  It’s a no-nonsense, completely Hawaiian, laid-back joint that uses local beef and discourages the use of lettuce or tomatoes.  No health food allowed!

See?  Told ya 😉

“Bubba refuses to serve any burger costing less than a can of dog food.”

Amen.

Amen again 😉

If you go to Kauai you NEED to eat here.  Remember, no health food allowed 😉

I had a day like that on the way to Crested Butte last summer. Nothing healthy, just a fat greasy burger and it was soooo good. I couldn’t eat all of it, but the atmosphere there was awesome.

The sign about the kids is GREAT!!!

Those burgers look so good!!! And I love how they decorated the place — the red/white stripes are hilarious.

I’m not sure what I’m more envious of in this….the fact that you are in the beautiful Kauai or the fact that you are eating amazing burgers in the beautiful Kauai.
    Amaze!!! 🙂
