Well before I get too far into this post I have to share my little celebratory mini-carrot cake. See I had BIG PLANS to do a gender reveal shindig and make a big fat cake with layers of blue or pink frosting. Yeah. Then I realized it’s the middle of the week and I’m exhausted (see also: pregnant). A gender reveal is fun, but y’all? Just not happening this time around.
Although I suppose this is a gender reveal party of sorts, right? Right!
Anyway, the most important thing that came out of yesterday’s appointment is this: the baby is healthy. It’s squirming and moving and everything is in place. A lot of people have asked us if the gender that we have is what we wanted, and the reality is that we didn’t care – we just want a healthy baby. But now that we know it’s healthy it makes it that much better to celebrate knowing something else about our little one!

Funny little tidbit on this is that literally right as the doctor started the ultrasound she said – from what I could hear – “Second one’s a show-off!”
WHAT?! I almost shot off the table. Then she realized what I’d heard and said that no, this was the second baby today who was a show-off…she immediately could tell the gender! I wouldn’t mind twins at all, but after 5 months of thinking it’s one kiddo and then finding out there are two? Yikes…that would be a shell-shocked mama!
Anyway, more to come on this appointment and the baby in general, but for now grab your carrot cake and a fork and dig in to celebrate our little baby boy!

I’m having a baby boy, too. I never really pictured myself as the mom of a boy, but now that I am one, I’m in love:-). So, so happy for you!

Congratulations! We are so happy for you two. I talked to your Mom the other day and boy are they excited. I am so glad everything is going great and if you need any advice on raising little boys I got quite a few. I told your Mom about making sure you are ready with new diaper before you change him.
