I Did It Again

Make sure you come say hi to Arlene today on Faces of Beauty!

Sounds like the Apple Cake Tatin would be a big hit for you guys!  And I have to say, it was a huge hit at my office too.  I really don’t know how I managed to sneak through the day only eating one piece.

But that one piece was GLORIOUS!

Confession:  growing up my mom and dad taught me a LOT about cooking.  They taught me to enjoy food (even though I turned it into a weapon for so many years) and how to prepare things quickly, easily, and healthfully.

I may not always follow the healthfully part, but whenever I make some incredible treat I always make sure I have a place to share it!  My parents taught me that sharing is a good thing too 🙂

There’s no doubt that they planted the food-loving roots, but when I was in college and discovered that Food Network had more than just Emeril on there?  It was all over my friends.  I instantly fell in love with Rachel Ray (yes, I love her), Giada, and Ina Garten.  But mostly Ina Garten.  One day I will be her (minus the husband-working-away-from-home thing), living in the Hamptons and creating delicious, simple, beautiful food to share with all of my fabulous friends.

So far I have the fabulous friends, I’m working on creating simple and delicious food…but apparently the Hamptons are expensive.  Hey, as Jack would say:  Don’t let your dreams be dreams!

All that to say that, in order to practice the food part even more, I decided to do another tatin – this time with plums!  And I have to say the plum one is my favorite so far.  See those little white parts in between the plums?  My friends, that’s straight butter and sugar that forms these amazing little crystals.  Likely because I didn’t have enough plum to fill that space, but I’m not complaining.  I’ll take candy with my cake any day!

Final post confession:  I didn’t share this.  Well, I shared with Nate.  That counts right?

If you could make any tatin in the world, what would it be?  Do share and I’ll try to make them!

You’re so right that you need to make the same type of dish a bunch of times to get the hang of it. I’m bad at saying I’ll do that and then so much time lapses between my cooking endeavours that I forget what the original product was really like!

It looks like a holiday decoration, it’s so pretty and sparkly! (And yes, that statement sounds like it came from a 5-year old…)

Did the intrawebs just eat my comment?
I was asking if a berry tatin (if you think it would taste good).
