Make sure you come say hi to Arlene today on Faces of Beauty!
Sounds like the Apple Cake Tatin would be a big hit for you guys! And I have to say, it was a huge hit at my office too. I really don’t know how I managed to sneak through the day only eating one piece.
But that one piece was GLORIOUS!
Confession: growing up my mom and dad taught me a LOT about cooking. They taught me to enjoy food (even though I turned it into a weapon for so many years) and how to prepare things quickly, easily, and healthfully.
I may not always follow the healthfully part, but whenever I make some incredible treat I always make sure I have a place to share it! My parents taught me that sharing is a good thing too 🙂
There’s no doubt that they planted the food-loving roots, but when I was in college and discovered that Food Network had more than just Emeril on there? It was all over my friends. I instantly fell in love with Rachel Ray (yes, I love her), Giada, and Ina Garten. But mostly Ina Garten. One day I will be her (minus the husband-working-away-from-home thing), living in the Hamptons and creating delicious, simple, beautiful food to share with all of my fabulous friends.
So far I have the fabulous friends, I’m working on creating simple and delicious food…but apparently the Hamptons are expensive. Hey, as Jack would say: Don’t let your dreams be dreams!
All that to say that, in order to practice the food part even more, I decided to do another tatin – this time with plums! And I have to say the plum one is my favorite so far. See those little white parts in between the plums? My friends, that’s straight butter and sugar that forms these amazing little crystals. Likely because I didn’t have enough plum to fill that space, but I’m not complaining. I’ll take candy with my cake any day!
Final post confession: I didn’t share this. Well, I shared with Nate. That counts right?
If you could make any tatin in the world, what would it be? Do share and I’ll try to make them!
You’re so right that you need to make the same type of dish a bunch of times to get the hang of it. I’m bad at saying I’ll do that and then so much time lapses between my cooking endeavours that I forget what the original product was really like!
Oh my gosh…..drool! Sharing with 1 totally counts as sharing! 🙂
O.M.G. that looks delish! It’s so pretttyyy!
This is so beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad dish using Ina’s recipe. She’s amazing.
I want to be Ina Garten, too! She is my absolute favorite Food Network chef:-).
Wow! That is a beautiful cake! Looks fantastic and sounds even better!
Agreed: Don’t let dreams STAY dreams- make them REALITY. You can do it! I believe you have the drive to do what it takes. 🙂
I adore Ina as well! Oh to have her life in the Hamptons, cooking fabulous food with the finest of cookware everyday… a girl can dream I suppose 🙂
sharing with the husband definitely counts, especially when it is extra delicious:-)
Such a pretty dessert! I’m totally with you in the Ina dream. I love to make desserts and share them. Good food makes people happy!
Gorgeous! Wishing I was eating this right now as my morning snack, rather than a banana! Boo.
I think plum has always been my favorite… STAR fruit would be really pretty but I don’t know how good it would taste? 😀
I love Ina.
this looks amazing!!!! I think i would want an exotic fruit tatin like mango or something like that 🙂
Caramelized pineapple tatin would be amazing! But you can only make it if you promise to mail it to me after;)
It looks like a holiday decoration, it’s so pretty and sparkly! (And yes, that statement sounds like it came from a 5-year old…)
Oh my gosh, it’s gorgeous! And in my opinion, Ina can do no wrong. I seriously love that woman! Wonderful post!
You need to submit these to a contest, Food Network or something! Gorgeous.
I learned something new today, Tatin!
I discovered Food Network and never looked back. I’m sort of obsessed. Love Paula. She’s my fav.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!
This looks so good…if I could eat any tatin in the world right now I’d go with yours!
Did the intrawebs just eat my comment?
I was asking if a berry tatin (if you think it would taste good).
Haha, that totally counts as sharing! I have to second the above – would a berry tatin be good? I am always trying to get more berries into my diet 🙂
This looks incredible! I would probably try one with sour cherries.
Ina is the best 🙂
I wonder how it would work with berries? Blueberries or raspberries might be tasty!
Oo wow this looks amazing. I don’t think I’ve had a Tatin before.. I bet pear would be yummy too!
That looks SO pretty!
This looks SOOOOO good! I’ve seen Ina make this one!
