Hey guys! This is just going to be a quick post this morning, and I’ll be back later with all of the eats for this weekend. First of all, Happy Easter to all of you! Whether you’re a believer or not, today is a day of renewing life and should be celebrated. I celebrate because today marks the day when my savior Jesus defied all odds and rose from the dead, cleaning me of my sin, guilt, and shame (and I have a LOT of that stuff) and welcomed me to live with him forever. That’s something worth celebrating! Tina has a great post on the death of Jesus and the difference between religion and faith…check it out here!
Today also marks the end of my Lenten vow to not eat meat, poultry, or fish. I’m so proud to say that I made it, and so proud to say that I followed through all the way from Ash Wednesday to Easter, but I’m more proud of the appreciation for veggies, fruit, alternative cooking methods, and yes, meat that I have found through this fast. There’s no way I could have done it without Jesus…now I know that sounds silly, but it’s true in so many ways. I believe that He not only gave me those appreciations as blessings, but he also kept me from eating meat when I REAAAAAAALLY wanted to. Even last night I was carrying a pizza out that was half meat half veg, and I had the biggest desire to just eat a little piece of sausage. Just a little one wouldn’t hurt, right? Wrong. It would have ruined everything I worked for, and I’m thankful for the reminder that if I just wait it will all be worth it!
Did you make a vow for Lent? Did you follow through? What are you going to be doing this Easter Sunday? We are going to go to church and spend time praising God for what He did for us, and then we’re going to just spend time with our friends and on the phone with our families, having fun and celebrating LIFE! I love you guys, and thank you for stopping by. As always, if you ever have any questions at all (and yes, this pertains to faith as well) please don’t hesitate to email me at heathersdish@gmail.com. Happy Easter!

Good for you! I don’t participate in Lent but I know you know that I don’t eat meat. I was getting a plate of food for my husband yesterday and there was some ham juice (or whatever you want tot call it) and I instinctively licked my finger. I was in complete shock that I did that! While it tasted good for a second I immediately felt this overwhelming sense of guilt and started thinking about those poor pigs and the lives they had to live. =(
I am so proud of you that you stayed strong, even on the very last night!
Do you think you will be eating less meat now that you have done it for a while?

Hey Heather! Thanks for the linkback on the post. I think it is an important message to share, so I really appreciate you helping that to be done. I hope you had an amazing Easter. How awesome to have been able to allow God to carry you through Lent by trusting Him. I bet it feels amazing. 🙂

I gave up sweets and dessert for Lent and went all the way through to this past Friday on Good Friday. I felt like that was a good day for me to end it and I feel good about that decision. God is so good for helping me be disciplined for those 43 days and I’m so forever in debt for Him dying and sacrificing for a sinner like me. I’m working today, unfortunately. (The life of a nurse) but we do have dinner plans with friends after I get off work. Time to eat, praise Jesus and love each other. Can’t get much better than that! Happy Easter!!
