Hey guys! This is just going to be a quick post this morning, and I’ll be back later with all of the eats for this weekend. First of all, Happy Easter to all of you! Whether you’re a believer or not, today is a day of renewing life and should be celebrated. I celebrate because today marks the day when my savior Jesus defied all odds and rose from the dead, cleaning me of my sin, guilt, and shame (and I have a LOT of that stuff) and welcomed me to live with him forever. That’s something worth celebrating! Tina has a great post on the death of Jesus and the difference between religion and faith…check it out here!
Today also marks the end of my Lenten vow to not eat meat, poultry, or fish. I’m so proud to say that I made it, and so proud to say that I followed through all the way from Ash Wednesday to Easter, but I’m more proud of the appreciation for veggies, fruit, alternative cooking methods, and yes, meat that I have found through this fast. There’s no way I could have done it without Jesus…now I know that sounds silly, but it’s true in so many ways. I believe that He not only gave me those appreciations as blessings, but he also kept me from eating meat when I REAAAAAAALLY wanted to. Even last night I was carrying a pizza out that was half meat half veg, and I had the biggest desire to just eat a little piece of sausage. Just a little one wouldn’t hurt, right? Wrong. It would have ruined everything I worked for, and I’m thankful for the reminder that if I just wait it will all be worth it!
Did you make a vow for Lent? Did you follow through? What are you going to be doing this Easter Sunday? We are going to go to church and spend time praising God for what He did for us, and then we’re going to just spend time with our friends and on the phone with our families, having fun and celebrating LIFE! I love you guys, and thank you for stopping by. As always, if you ever have any questions at all (and yes, this pertains to faith as well) please don’t hesitate to email me at email@example.com. Happy Easter!
