Reading Wild at Heart by John Eldridge. Yes, I realize I’m about ten years late to the game and yes, I understand that there are parts that need to be taken with a grain of salt. But y’all, I’ll be if it isn’t teaching me more about parenting boys than I ever thought it would! If you’re a boy mom I would highly recommend reading it too (if you haven’t already).
Singing nonstop to ‘Ho Hey’ by The Lumineers. Before y’all go saying that I’m only into older things (I am) you should know that W is obsessed with the song, and A thinks it’s cool to try and sing like his brother. And I’m a sucker for anything that gets them to get along and laugh together…so ‘Ho Hey’ it is! Plus, I like it. So there 🙂
Wishing that I could keep this weather forever and ever amen. 50’s at night, 70-80 during the day. Not a thing wrong with it!
Waiting for Thursday to come so that I can go hiking! That’s the only day that we have childcare for both boys for a few hours, and getting outside alone is such a refreshing thing for me. I may even take both of them after I pick them up from school for a round two hike…and then pass out on the couch at 7pm.
Watching ALL THE SHOWS. Seriously, I don’t know if we’ve ever been involved with this many shows before. The schedule is as follows:
Sunday: Quantico (still on the fence on whether I like this one) and Poldark (OMG LOVE IT)
Monday: Timeless (it’s growing on me…I’m a sucker for history stuff)
Tuesday: This Is Us (I’ll never quit this one y’all – too good)
Wednesday: Blindspot (no explanation needed – action packed!)
Thursday: The Good Place and Superstore – I think these shows are hysterical and LOVE Thursday TV!
Friday: Last Man Standing – cheesy but so good
Buying Annie’s brand snacks and such for the boys. I feel a teensy bit better about giving them these options over other packaged stuff since there’s no way I have time or sanity to make every last thing for them right now. Also, shelled pistachios are a flipping revelation when it comes to snacks for all of us – a small handful takes the edge off of hunger so well!
Saying things like, “Stop eating rocks” and “We don’t hit people on the head with baseball bats” and “Please don’t break your leg…please?” on repeat. Guess who has two thumbs and ISN’T wild at heart? THIS GIRL.
Looking forward to (hopefully) some family pictures by my friend Ruthanne! She is so wildly talented and hilarious and sweet – and it’ll be the first time we’ve ever had professional pictures done of our family. Fingers crossed everyone participates!

Hi Heather! Long time reader, love your blog, honesty and heart. I’m a boy mom (ages 14,12 and 8) and I completly relate to the “saying” part of this post! I’ve said similar things, ” we don’t eat anything that’s not food” and when in public, “we don’t touch any one that’s not in our family”. (No leaning on strangers while in long lines etc😄)! We’re learning as we go here! My mom gave me a magnet once that said “the first 40 years of parenthood are always the hardest”. Grace for today!
