Hey guys! Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments on my post this morning. I don’t know why some days are better than others, but it makes a HUGE difference 1) having the sweetest husband in the world and 2) being part of such a supportive community! I’ve said it a million times, but this is a journey, and that doesn’t mean I arrive at the destination just because I was on my best behavior for a little bit! My hope is that one day I can help someone just like me to see their true beauty and learn to love themselves!
Lunch today was some leftover crockpot chili from Friday:
I had it with some shredded cheese and SALTINES!!! I’ve never had it with saltines before, but that was a great combo 🙂
I think I might be boring and eat the rest of the chili for dinner tonight…otherwise I’d have to throw it away. When I was in school I was told that you really shouldn’t keep anything past 3 days old, and I’ve stuck with that ever since! How long do you keep leftovers around to eat afterwards?
Mid-afternoon I made an oats-on-oats snacker:
That’s 1 packet of plain instant oats, 1 smashed banana, 3/4 cup of water, 1 Tbsp peanut butter, and a sprinkling of Dylan’s Chia Granola. So good! This bad boy’s likely going to tide me over for a while now!
So, this morning I had another snack, but I wanted to talk about it down here so all the info could be together. A couple weeks ago I was contacted by Attune Foods to test some of their chocolate wellness bars. Of course I said yes! This morning I dug into the fridge at work and pulled out the Dark Chocolate bar:
Oh.my.gosh. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this was a treat! Only 80 calories and truly chocolate:
I savored every little piece of that guy! Here’s a little info from their website:
Probiotics—good for life! Probiotics are trusted by millions of people around the world to help support healthy digestion, provide a natural defense, and maintain optimal health and wellness.
The World Health Organization (WHO) officially defines probiotics as live microorganisms, which when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host.
The probiotics story begins with intestinal bacteria, which are a community of good and bad bacteria that live in the digestive system. We all have naturally occurring bacterial communities in our digestive systems. They help:
- Protect the body from harmful bacteria.
- Exercise the immune system to ensure it is ready to react to harmful bacteria.
- Strengthen the intestinal wall so it acts as a defensive barrier.
- Digest fiber in the diet, so we can absorb the nutrients from the foods we eat.
These digestive bacteria are essential to overall wellbeing. Probiotics act as a helper to these friendly bacteria, and that help can keep the digestive system functioning well. As an additional resource on probiotics, read this informative guide published by the American Gastroenterological Association.
Prebiotics
A prebiotic is a form of fiber that remains undigested in the small intestine and acts as food for the naturally-occurring friendly bacteria in your digestive system. Attune is formulated with the prebiotic inulin, which is a natural dietary fiber that supports healthy digestive function and works in harmony with probiotics.
Attune Probiotics
Attune probiotic wellness bars are a delicious way to enjoy the health benefits probiotics can provide. Each Attune wellness bar is packed with probiotics that help rebalance your digestive system, so your whole body can work better.
- Attune probiotics are proven to survive in the digestive tract, where they can provide optimal health benefits.
- The probiotics in Attune have been clinically tested to support a healthy digestive system and a strong immune system.*
- Attune wellness bars also include prebiotics, which support healthy digestive function and work in harmony with probiotics.
Attune uses a blend of three different Kosher and GRAS certified probiotic strains selected specifically for their superior clinical efficacy and safety as well as demonstrated stability. These include Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM, Lactobacillus casei Lc-11 and Bifidobacterium lactis HN019.
Why wouldn’t you want all of those health benefits? And with chocolate? Yes please! I would highly HIGHLY recommend the dark chocolate bar to anyone who likes dark chocolate. I still have the mint chocolate and the chocolate crisp to try, but if they’re anywhere near the dark bar, I know I’ll love them! Thanks for the fabulous samples Attune!
Tonight is going to be full of menu planning, workout planning, and chores, but I’m so excited to just get out of the office and spend some time with my sweetie 🙂 We are going to be cooking up some awesome plans for future things on the blog (yes, you should get excited!) and tackle all the rest of the stuff together as well!
Would you ever go into business with your significant other? Why or why not? Someday Nate and I plan to take over the world…no, really…and work from home. It’s gonna happen! I would be so excited to work with him, too. We work for the same company now, but doing a lot of different things, and I would love to dominate some sort of business with him that’s our very own!

Chris + I have talked about going into bizness together before since he’s an engineer + I’m an architect…it would be a ways down the road..and I’m not sure that is what I want to do anymore..but if we decided to I know it could work! If you want to check out an awesome husband + wife team look at my friends photog in boulder! They rock! https://www.fuse-photographic.com/ Ohhh DUH, you met laura at the blogger meetup 😉

I love chili! Aww those Attune Bars are so cute with the little people on them! Definitely going to have to try them.
I could definitely see myself going into business with my loved one. Especially opening a running store or something fun like that!

I would go into business with my husband as long as I was Pres and he was VP…just kidding…actually no, seriously. I need final say 🙂

I have been really wanting to try those Attune bars! They look so good.
And I would NEVER go into business with my husband. I don’t like to mix work and pleasure too much. Plus, starting his own business was a big downfall to our family when my dad did it so I could never condone it for my own family.

ummm I want that chocolate bar NOW! haha, I’m definitely going to have to check that out! It may go with this detox shiznit that I’m on right now 🙂 teehee
You do have an amazing husband…but he has an amazing wife so looks like that works out perfectly! You guys are totally going to take over the world! NO DOUBT!
I only do the 3-day thing with leftovers…was it mommy that told us that? prob…if I have more than I need I just keep enough for 3 days in the fridge then freeze the rest!
I miss you so much already! LOVE YOU BIG SCISSOR…keep your head up, you will conquer this and reach your goal…I know you will!

Hey Heather! I’ve been reading your blog for a couple weeks now and I just love how real and genuine you are – it’s very refreshing.
Anywho…I’ve heard the same thing about food. Usually if I don’t see myself eating it in 3 days, I just pop it into the freezer! (if it is freeze-able).
Re: your question about business…I would totally go into business with my boyfriend! We’ve talked about it and think it would work really well. However, I’ve had other relationships where it definitely would not have…I really think it depends on your relationship. For me, it comes down to being both compatible, flexible, and also complementary with your skills, abilities and ideas.

Glad you are feeling better! 🙂 I’m with you- 3 days MAX for leftovers. Usually I try to eat it the next day or freeze it but if I must… 3 days is it!
Kelly says
I haven’t ever tried the Attune Bars but the blogging world is raving about them…guess I need to jump on that band wagon! haha!

I looooove saltines. I used to eat stacks of them nearly every day. Sadly, there isn’t any GF saltine that I know of.
I eat leftovers for a long time… basically until it starts to smell/look different. But I tend to stick things in the freezer well before that happens and I’m convinced that if it’s been frozen, it’s fine for eternity. 🙂

I love those Attune bars!!

I am just now catching up on google reader and wanted to send you some {{{hugs}}} about your earlier post. I think little setbacks are 100% part of this and the important thing is to tune in and figure out what is going on. And not the part about the lack of exercise or poor eating choices, the part that is leading you to make those choices. What is driving you to make choices that are not in line with your goals? Become aware of these things and you can figure out how to solve the problem. This isn’t about willpower or motivation, it is about honoring what your body, mind and spirit are telling you.

I have always wanted to try an Attune bar. Seeing that picture makes me really want to buy some!

I don’t think my fella and I could ever go into business together! We never fight over anything major, but I think we would nag each other over little, tiny things to death!
Jenny says
My bf and I could go into a business together- but chances are, he would be out in the field and I would be handling the office!

Rebecca @ How the Cookie's Crumble says
I keep my leftovers for 7 days. At least grains and vegetables. Meat I’ve been told is good for 7 days too but depending on what it is, I get sketchy around the 5 day mark.

Never would I do the business partner thing. Yes to the chili thing!
