We were in Dallas this past weekend shooting the wedding of Brandon & Elizabeth, and I got to learn about a new tradition called a charm cake. Basically it’s a bundt cake that has small charms attached to ribbon, all representing something in a marriage or in life, hidden in the middle. On the wedding day the bride and the women in her life all pull the charms out at the same time and tie the charms around their wrist. You wear it all day for the wedding and it’s supposed to come true!
I thought this was such a cute idea…have you ever heard of a charm cake? What other fun wedding traditions have you seen/done?

I’m holding a bridesmaid luncheon next week and wanted to do this charm cake idea. Do you know what bakery does this in Dallas?
Heather says
it’s actually not a bakery – the bride’s mother bought the bundt pan and made it! although i’m sure you could maybe find a bundt cake at central market or something like that and add the flowers/charms yourself? i’m not totally sure where to find the charms though…

I haven’t ever heard of this idea either, I like it!

I had one at my bridesmaid’s luncheon the day before the wedding. We didn’t wear our charms but the bridesmaids did get to keep them. It is a fun tradition!

OoOo never heard of this heather! But perhaps it’s something FUN I can do for my wedding? Haha, will have to talk about it first. It’s a cute idea. 😀

That is a really neat idea! I’ve never heard of it. I like how it bonds the girls for the bride’s special day and beyond. That is a great way to make some memories and something they will all have for years to come.

I had heard of this tradition… either in my Spanish class in highschool or my cultural food habits class in college. Either way, it’s sweet (no pun intended ;))!

Never heard of that. It’s cute, though!

My mother in law told me there is something very similar to that in Greece for the brides. We didn’t do it but I think it’s a neat idea!
