Lovely Links

by Heather on August 26, 2016

And so it begins, my friends. Last weekend was fantastic, lovely, beautiful. Then we got home and voila! Everyone’s sick and my poor sweet baby has a double ear infection that’s actually a pretty bad one :( I just am praying that this isn’t a sign of things to come this fall/winter.

ALTHOUGH I will tell you guys what the doctor we saw told me. APPARENTLY there is a thing you can buy on Amazon called an ear check (this is the one he suggested) that can help you determine if you need to go to the doctor for a middle ear infection. At $14 and Prime shipping I’m going for it so I’ll let you guys know how it works, mmmk? All I know is it could save me a couple co-pays a year and pay for itself after one use. DONE.

What are you guys doing this weekend? As long as we’re all feeling better I think we’ll be doing a bit of adventuring around our hometown! Hope y’all have a great weekend and enjoy these links!

1. Doctor up frozen pizza the fancy way – which would you choose? I’m feeling the chorizo version!

2. Silly but helpful chip tricks. Looks like I need to up my chip game!

3. Believe in miracles. They happen every day…attached to their mothers.

4. The most extreme & effective weight loss story I’ve read lately!

5. Ina’s new home…and I’m obsessed!

6. Interesting.

7. I wondered what I would do when the Olympics ended…now I know.

8. So adorable but begs the question HOW?!?! My babies never slept this soundly!

9. A great piece, a beautiful picture, on work.

10. The most beautiful places in every state – SERIOUSLY gorgeous stuff here!

What a Food Blogger Eats: Spicy Glazed Pork with Peppers and Pineapple by @barefeetkitchen #whatafoodbloggereats WELL HELLO! I realize I posted yesterday, but totally didn’t Monday and Tuesday and feel like I’m so behind! When we got back from Branson we all came down with a cold – first W, then Nate, then A, now me. Now I’m pretty sure A has an ear infection so there’s that.

P.S. a word on ear infections: I never ever would have thought that I would pray for my babies to have ear infections but there’s something a little easier to rest with when you find out they have one. There’s medicine they can take, things you can do to fix it. Not like the ol’ “fever virus” that you have to let ride out, you know? Anyway, we’ll find out later this morning and hopefully get us all back on the road to health again soon.

I said it last week on Instagram and I meant it: I’m so glad that I got a copy of my friend Mary‘s amazing weeknight dinner cookbook in the mail because literally every meal this week is from there. An entire book of easy, delicious, family-friendly meals that are quick to make? Sign me up!

I was also one of the lucky ones to get to test some of the recipes before they hit the printers, so I know that these recipes are tried and true. This particular one for spicy glazed pork was perfect and quick, especially when I prepped everything during nap time and threw it together for dinner. Served on top of brown rice it was a hearty meal with the perfect amount of leftovers!

This isn’t an ad, I really do love Mary’s book and couldn’t recommend it more! And if you’d like to try out some great recipes before committing to buy, check out her site for some really fabulous dinner ideas!

Exploring Our Own Backyard in Branson, Missouri

This post is sponsored by the Branson Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and The Women Bloggers. All opinions are my own. Right now W has the book that was written by Laura Bush and Jenna Bush Hager, Our Great Big Backyard, and has since become obsessed with geography and adventure. If you know me at all […]

WHO IS EXCITED ABOUT FALL?!?! I’m so stoked I can’t even let myself talk about it too much because I know this fickle Arkansas weather will only be playing games with my heart. BUT STILL. I can’t wait.   See, for me it’s not about the pumpkin spice and scarves (although I do like those […]

Sesame Zucchini Noodle Salad

August 18, 2016

You’ll notice in the recipe portion of this post that this is meant to serve two people. This is laughable for several reasons: It’s too good to share. Double the recipe. It’s all veggies and healthy stuff, so you can eat to your heart’s content. Double the recipe. Because it’s healthy and because it’s too […]

Honey Balsamic Roasted Tomatoes

August 16, 2016

Say hello to the first way I’ve ever eaten JUST tomatoes, ever. Granted they’re deeply roasted with some simply amazing flavors, but still – it’s a first I’m happy to embrace. Especially when I took these pictures and then promptly devoured the entire pan.   I’m not even mad. That’s amazing!   (name that movie) […]

I’m not trying to instigate anything here, but WHAT IS UP with the Olympics announcers this year?! How many dumb things will they say (or report)? I just can’t even. And I don’t actually want to talk about it. I just can’t…   In other news YAY for the weekend! This week has flown by […]

Balsamic Glazed Pecans

August 11, 2016

I’m going to be completely cliche here and ask you guys: who else is watching the Olympics obsessively? Raise your hands high with me because I SURE AM! Like to the point where I’m leaving the TV on all day long because the way I see it this is a learning opportunity for my kids. […]

What a Food Blogger Eats: Grain-Free Pumpkin Muffins

August 10, 2016

Attention, y’all: I realize that most of you will hate me for posting anything pumpkin related so soon. I mean, it’s August for crying out loud! And to that I say two things: I’m with you – too soon for pumpkin spice anything! I’m still eating watermelon, corn and tomatoes while they’re in season! But… […]

I Mommy, I Show Up, I Play, I Mommy

August 9, 2016

To all my fellow moms who are doing all the things: you weren’t made to do ALL THE THINGS.   BUT you can boil it down to the things that matter and you can do them well – dare I say even the best in the world?   I loved the quote in this video […]
